Beautiful Pictures And Concise Stories, But Be Aware Of The Story Of Sodom
Review byKathleen
My daughter and I loved this book. We used it in conjunction with the Language Lessons for a Living Education curriculum and my daughter was always excited when she was supposed to read this book for her lesson. That being said, I did take off one star because in the story of Sodom it very plainly states, "One big sin of Sodom was that men married men and women married women." Now I'm not one to water down the Word and certainly that is in the Bible, but my daughter was not ready to hear that message. She had never been exposed to the topic of homosexuality and reading about it in a book she's supposed to use for language lessons was not my ideal way of broaching the subject with her. Most children's accounts say something to the effect of the people of Sodom being wicked without elaborating on their sexuality. I think this particular passage should either be more generalized or there should be more of an effort made to let parents know how this particular story is phrased so parents can decide if it's an appropriate time to talk about sexuality and marriage with their child or not. Other than that, this book was lovely to read and even lovelier to look at with its gorgeous, conversation-starting pictures.

Beautiful artwork
Review byMaddy
The book has some awesome artwork. That being said it's dull . The summarizes written are to vague and rush certain details. The Bible versus seem to never been with in the Bible book aka Job or Psalms the short story lesson is from. Which is confusing to my kid. He would rather read the acully Bible. That's saying a lot; when my child hates reading and listening to me read!

Great for everyone

I actually bought this years ago and we would use it in our morning baskets as a starter to our day. This past year my oldest son was using this with his level 3 language and he was reading each story on his own while I did another lesson with one of his brothers. When he finished reading I would ask him the questions and he knew everything. I know that my husband being a children's pastor and us always being at church helps but every week i would just smile at his knowledge of the Bible. He knows more than me and makes me question my knowledge daily. I love that he does that!!
