More Information
Using a mix of geography and history, your students will learn about the classical world, and the story of different people groups leaving Babel and spreading their culture and influence around the world. A Child’s Geography Vol. 3: Explore the Classical World is designed for students in the 4th – 8th grade level. It is scheduled for 3-day weeks over a year-long interactive journey. Students completing this course will:
- Explore the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, including Greece and Italy
- Visit the Balkan Peninsula to explore Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, and more
- Discover historic sites that include castles, monasteries, fortresses, windmills, and ancient ruins
- See how Christians like the Apostle Paul and others helped bring God’s Word to the world
Biblical Worldview
We approach this journey from a biblical worldview that affirms the truth of God’s Word. As part of the course, students will learn about each country’s history, which in a few cases includes very brief details about their false gods, such as the Greek “gods” of Olympus. In today’s popular culture, these “gods” are often portrayed as heroes in movies, comic books, and more. We, however, have chosen to take the factual approach, making clear these stories are myths about false gods while reaffirming the eternal truths of the one true God as presented in His Holy Word.
Course components include:
- Travel Log notes at the end of each section to sum up important points
- Travel Journal at the end of each chapter to record trip highlights, favorites, and more
- Supply list, recipes, and crafts

This book is suggested for a 4th-grade student. There is a 36-week schedule with lessons scheduled 3 days a week.
It includes flashcards, chapter reviews and tests, maps, and a supply list,
My favorite part of this book is all of the vibrant photos.
I highly recommend this book because I feel like it is a very good balance of reading and activities. Perfect for a child in late elementary school.
The text is interesting and engaging, and the pictures are rich and plentiful. Throughout the chapters, the activities are varied among written worksheets, timelines, maps, travel logs, recipes, crafts, and more. The different activities help your kids to become immersed and engaged with the countries and cultures that you study, making everything come to life.
This course is set up to follow a 36 week schedule, 3 days a week, at about a 4th grade level. I find the context to be age appropriate, but also flexible enough for use in family learning with different ages and levels of learning.
One of the reasons I have enjoyed using this series is that it is very open and go. Any materials or supplies that you need are listed by chapter at the beginning of the book. The text is set up in a way that each chapter is divided into each day’s readings, and the adventure challenges are typically on stand-alone pages. This is great for those who buy the digital format - so easy to just print out the worksheets!
At the back of the text, chapter reviews are included that can be used for additional worksheets or as graded quizzes. A final exam is also included. The answer keys for all adventure challenges, chapter reviews, and the final exam are all found at the end of the book.
I appreciate the variety of activities throughout this course, it is never boring! It is very hands on and interactive. My kids loved the travel journal that was at the end of each chapter that allowed them to reflect on the leg of the journey they just finished. Activities include map work, creating a timeline, cooking recipes from the various countries, and many more, all with a biblical worldview woven through.
This course is a great addition to any homeschooling family. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a biblically sound geography course that will keep your kids excited for their next journey!
It goes from Greece to Italy and many places in between. The maps and pictures alone are worth every penny but the "Adventures", or activities, are a lot of fun as well. My favorite part is the recipes that are included in each section. The book includes a grocery list as well as a list of supplies for the activities located at the beginning. It makes it much easier to find as we are reading along.
I love how the author wrote it as if we are actually on an adventure to these far away places. We actually get to see how the every day people lived and worked. It makes you feel like you are a part of the story. My children love this type of narrative. Also included in some of the lessons is a Learning the Language section. The author uses Bible verses to allow the readers to learn a new language. I find this very fascinating and exciting.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a history or geography course for 4th-6th graders. It is easy to read and understand and the activities and amazing recipes will have your students begging to do more lessons.
This course is so versatile in the ways you can teach, from a single child to family style. This course is awesome I recommend it.
The layout of this course is enjoyable to read with captivating and stunning pictures included. This course is also designed to accommodate your specific schedule, wether that is the course recommended 3 days, or something different. I admire curriculum that can be adjusted to fit your specific families needs, and this is that!
This course allows you to be immersed into specific geography, and history, while learning key facts, crafts, and recipes! I also love the supply list included in the book! I absolutely recommend this for any homeschool!
