Will a Christian college build a student's faith or tear it down?

But is the Bible being taught? Will they graduate believing in the inerrancy of Scripture, the Flood of Noah's Day, and a literal six day creation?

Ken Ham is an accomplished author of some of the most popular and effective apologetics research on the market. He is the founder of Answers in Genesis - U.S. and the president of the Creation Museum.

I have no doubt that the average church member would be shocked and outraged to discover how many supposedly evangelical colleges and universities have more or less given up their commitment to biblical inerrancy and the authority of Scripture—especially when dealing with the early chapters of Genesis. I’m grateful for this important work by Ken Ham and Greg Hall, documenting the many compromises that have ravaged the Christian academy. Already Compromised is a much needed wake-up call and a summons to arms for faithful, courageous Bible believers. We need to stand up, declare our faith, and defend the truth of Scripture courageously. The stakes are high and the battle may be more fierce than ever, but God will bless those who honor His Word. May He bless us with clear, unwavering voices.

— John MacArthur

Yes, this really is the state of our "Christian" schools
Review by Jennifer
Being a previous professor and administrator in Christian higher education, this book aligned with what I experienced and witnessed. Ken and Greg's research, validated what I sensed was happening in our schools. I left higher education because of everything this book discusses. There is most definitely a compromise of Scriptural Authority happening in the majority of institutions (including K-12 Christian schools).

As a parent, I appreciated reading Ken and Greg's encouragement toward holding firm to Biblical authority and also appreciated the suggested ways to questions schools in order to gain a more accurate gauge on their beliefs/standings.

Highly Recommend this book!

If you are thinking about a "christian college".... read this book

I honestly didn't think that so many Christian colleges don't believe in the authority of the Bible and the literal Genesis account. Wake up call to why sooo many colleges and churches are changing God's word to fit man's beliefs. Amazing resource!
Great

Amazing

Every parent who is considering college for their student needs to read this. It is a frightening expose of the state of our “Christian” colleges. It has an excellent worldview checker in the appendix section that will help parents and students evaluate the perspective school thoroughly. My dad is a private school administrator and he recommends this to every high school student.
What is their true worldview?
Review by Heather
Ken Ham is known for his very strong viewpoints which people either love or hate. There is no middle ground when it comes to him vocalizing his beliefs. Because he stands very firmly for what he believes, he takes a lot of flack. Personally, I believe that this is exactly the type of thing that we should want for our kids. We want them to be strong and courageous when it comes to their beliefs, their faith. We want them to take a stand and not be moved. (Whether or not a person agrees with Ken's viewpoints, I think most of us want our kids to be able to think for themselves and know why they believe something. Critical thinking is something to be encouraged, not squashed.)

The main thing from the book that stuck with me was the need to be diligent about making sure the colleges/universities that we send our children to either line up with our worldview, or we make sure that our kids know that the teaching could/will be contrary to our worldview. It cemented in my mind the importance of making sure our kids are strong in their foundational beliefs.

It's critical that our kids know what they believe and why they believe the way they do instead of believing just because mom and/or dad said so. We also need to make sure our kids understand different worldviews. It's important that they aren't exposed to opposing viewpoints for the first time when they head off to college on their own.

Based upon the research shown in Already Compromised, many of the Christian colleges and universities are now teaching concepts that may very well not line up with our worldview. Often both colleges and professors are now teaching that creation and science don't mix. The crazy thing is that it's not the science departments that are most likely to have issues with creation meshing with science - it's the religion departments. Wow!

Already Compromised gives a good number of facts and figures which show that many colleges struggle with practical application of their statement of faith. They may say they believe and teach one way, but, in practice, they are actually teaching something that lines up more with evolution than creation.

It's a great book that really makes you think about the importance of carefully choosing schools as well as preparing your children for the future. It's definitely a case of don't judge a book buy its cover except in this case it's don't judge a school by its label.
