Fantastic Audio Book
Review by SarahT
Again, Angela O'Dell brings history to life with the audioⓞ for the beloved America's Story 3. This has been a game changer for my family as we listen to the stories while in the car running errands. We get to bring school along with us!
So Convenient
Review by Yulia
We've been using America's Story series for a few years now. We love them! The material is easy to understand and not overwhelming. This audiobook is a great addition to the series. It is convenient to listen on the road, during busy days or even just to quickly review a chapter on demand. My child can use this audiobook independently, and he can follow along with his physical book if he wants to. I love that the author, Angela O'Dell, reads it herself. It makes it more engaging.
Not “just” history!
Review by JoyfulMommy
I love Mrs. O’Dell’s emphasis in all of her history courses that history is HIS story - the story of God at work through the lives of people. It’s amazing to see the difference made in so many people’s lives when one person is bold to stand up for what is right! Mrs. O’Dell does such a good job of telling these stories in an engaging way, showing the good character but not hesitating to point out where things were not good or did not line up with God’s Word, and addressing these with a biblical worldview. She also helps us connect what we and our children can learn and apply to ourselves, seeing how each one plays a part in creating history!

While the focus of this book is American history, it also includes a lot of information about how our government is set up, branches of our military, and topics that come up in the course of history like the impeachment process, and differences between “big government” and more conservative political views. Mrs. O’Dell does well explaining such things as anti war protests, economic crises, war involvement, etc. at an appropriate level for elementary students.

The audiobook (read by the author) makes it easy to listen in the car or during quiet activities, although I do like having the textbook on hand for the maps, illustrations and photos, and to reference and dig deeper into some of the text. It’s also great to listen to the audiobook for review and gaining greater familiarity with the information!
Great Resource!
Review by Santina
It is always fun to hear the author of your history book read to you! Angela O’Dell does a great job of reading America’s Story 3 in an engaging tone as you and/or your student follow along, take narration breaks, and have great discussion.
Perfect Alone or Along With the Text
Review by Caitlin
Our days can get so busy, and I've learned that history sometimes works best for our family when my kids are listening to it like a story. We've used America's Story Audiobook to accompany the beautiful book images when I'm pulled in another direction, but we've also used the audio alone when out and about or when they just need a reading break. Angela O’Dell brings history to life. Her voice is engaging and presents history as an engaging story to be followed. This series has truly created a love for history in my kids. Highly recommended.
Fantastic Resource
Review by Kathleen C
We already covered all three of the America’s Story books. Now we are listening to the audio books. We enjoy listening to these in the car or at home. The audio book is read by the author Angela O’Dell. I love the way she wrote interesting stories to teach us about history. She talks about this being a living education. Which means that we make relationships with what we learn. Through listening to these stories, you are able to do that.
This book covers the time period of the early 1900s through 2016. This audio book is a great resource to go along with the America’s Story 3 book. You want to use the book as well because the photos and maps are wonderful to see.
A Voice-Saver!
Review by Becky V.
My kids do really well with listening to audiobooks, so when we saw that America’s Story 3 had been released as an audiobook, we grabbed it right away! We love this series by Angela O’Dell, and her actually narrating the storytelling course has just made it that much better. Throughout our day, I do a lot of reading aloud to my three kids, not only has this option given my voice a break, but I feel having another voice actually has helped my kids retain more. And the best part is that we are able to more easily use this course on the go if we need to - we love listening to it in the car on our way to other activities!
Engaging and Educational
Review by Dawn
This is the audio version of the America’s Story 3 textbook. This text is written in a story format and focuses on modern American history, starting with Teddy Roosevelt. It is a wonderful resource that can be used as a standalone resource (my son would sit and listen to it while he played with legos). It would also be helpful for struggling readers (or busy moms) to read alongside the physical textbook.
Great addition!
Review by Crystal
We love this addition to the America’s Story 3 Curriculum! When our days get busy, it is so easy to take school on the road with us! The narration breaks are an unexpected addition to the audiobook, but I am so glad they are included! Even if we do not have the book with us, the built in pauses help ensure understanding and allow an opportunity for questions and comments during the reading. We all love the author as well. She writes in a conversational tone and explains big things in a very approachable way. Her reading voice is clear and just the right speed, making the audio version of Americas Story 3 a very enjoyable listen.
What an incredible series!
Review by Dustie
Our family loves the America’s Story series. I truly enjoy the engaging style of writing. Angela O’Dell tells history as a story, rather than a boring compilation of dates and events. She does a great job of presenting history, the good and bad, in a way children can understand. Most importantly, these events are addressed with a biblical worldview. The audio is enjoyable and read by the author herself. What a treat! I think it is a nice supplement to enjoy alongside the book. This is especially nice for auditory learners or students who just prefer to listen and take notes. This is the history course I wish I’d had as a kid.
