Nice set
Review by Megan
We have a busy schedule so we are working through the set at a different pace than laid out in the guide. We do all of the reading in one day, and then the worksheets the following day or two, which is working great. The lessons readings are fairly short but still in depth enough for my children to learn a good bit about the time period. The activities are nice for review and some are just plain fun.
Love this resource!!!
Review by Fidelis Homeschool
I cannot say enough good stuff about this book. I begrudgingly bought it to support my son's love of history. He attended a private school until this year, so 6th grade is his first year of homeschooling. In the past 2 years, he has learned American History in school, but sadly they never made it to WW 2. I have always hated history because it is so dry... I hated learning names and dates that meant nothing to me. Well, I got this as a read-aloud for our whole family to read together (I also have a 4th and a 1st grader). I (and my children) absolutely LOVE this book!! I actually just bought America's Story 1 today to go back and start from the beginning. I love how Mrs. O'Dell writes history in a story format, so we feel connected to the people and places. For example, I will never forget how it must've felt to drive one of the first of Henry Ford's cars. My muddle child is very crafty, so I also just ordered the timeline book for him. He will enjoy putting the dates and pictures together to help him remember the events. History has gone from being my least favorite subject by far, to being the subject I look forward to the most each day! Thank you, Angela, for sharing your gifting with us. As an aside, we love your math curriculum also!!
History Comes Alive
Review by Amy
Again, AS 3 is excellent. I have loved all of these history's. I just wish I had this history when I was younger. The great thing, I'll be able to go through it all with my younger children. I love how history does come alive. We were able to use our kitchen table world map and explain how the wars went with the chapters in this book and made history come alive and hands on.
We have used all three!!
Review by Elizabeth
I have used all 3 Americas Story history curriculum, with both my son and daughter. We sit down and do group history, and I just give my older daughter more challenging assignments, to be more age appropriate. We all enjoy reading through the book, and discussing our great nations history.
Wonderful Series
Review by Jenna
We love this series as a family. I used America's Story 1 and 2 for our history lessons for the past 2 years. This year I decided to use America's Story 3 as part of our morning basket. It has went wonderfully. I love the way the book is written and the history that we all are learning with this book.
We love this series!
Review by Kimberly
This was a great history book to read with my 2nd grader and 5th grader. I also added the timeline. It has narration breaks and at the end of each chapter are some questions to talk about. It reads like a rich novel not like a textbook, but has an amazing amount of info in it. I love how the hard issues are not left out, however they are written about through a Biblical worldview. It was helpful to me to understand and helped me talk about some historical issues with my kids. Very age appropriate too!
Enjoyed
Review by Lindsey
Have enjoyed going through this series. It was nice to have the good the bad and the ugly shared about our nations history in a way that was appropriate for children of all ages, and wrapped in the Gospel message. Learned a lot, and enjoyed all the great pictures and the narrative approach.
The Conclusion of the Best History Series
Review by Bethany
My two older kids read the entire America's Story series in two school years. Like nothing else, these books have made American history come alive for my upper elementary kids. I can't wait to do this series again with their younger siblings. Highly recommend!
Nice Series
Review by Annice
We are finishing this series this year and have learned so much. I’m glad we did it. History can be a hard read but this was a great set up.
Best so far
Review by Laura
We have been through all three America's Story books and this one is my favorite so far because it gives a good ending to the series. It was almost like a book series you did not want to end. As with America's Story 1 & 2, the level 3 thoroughly covers American history and includes many photos with captions describing each photo in each chapter.
