  • Explore the lives of those who dared to oppose the most powerful military on earth with the most powerful words and principles put to paper
  • Discover in-depth character comments, explanations of providential occurrences, founder’s quotes, and poetry from the time period
  • and more!

Engaging Storytelling Style

Throughout the stories presented in America’s Struggle to Become a Nation, Rick & Marilyn Boyer’s rich storytelling style engages and guides students in imagining history as it unfolded. Students will explore the causes, challenges, and timeline of the Revolutionary War while discovering the hope, fears, faith, struggles, and triumphs of the many who committed their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to build the foundations of freedom and faith we have inherited.

A Providential Perspective

"The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth; that God governs in the affairs of men.” -Benjamin Franklin

America’s Struggle to Become a Nation studies the Revolutionary War through a timeline approach, covering each event, story, and battle in the order it unfolded in history. As students follow the events of the Revolutionary War, they’ll also encounter the stories of men and women who sought God’s direction and experienced His Providential guidance as history unfolded. Through engaging narrative, founder’s quotes, and poetry of the era, students will discover how God worked both naturally and supernaturally in the formation of the United States of America.

Daughter who hates history loves this
Review by LC
My daughter does not like history and has always complained during history every year. My jaw fell on the floor when she said, “I love this history book. It’s so interesting and I like all the pictures. This is actually a good history course.” Enough said.
Very engaging

My son loves learning about the American Revolution and has enjoyed learning the timeline of events from a Christian perspective in this book. Thank you Masterbooks for quality Christian material my children enjoy spending time with!
Excellent
Review by Angela
This book is a gem. When my 10 year old son said he wanted to read about the Revolutionary War, I searched a bit for the right material. This book was the clear choice, hands down! Biblical, interesting, colorful... it has been an excellent choice. I didn’t have to ask him to read it... I had to ask him to put it down so we could get some other schoolwork done!
Great!

We love looking through this book already! Wonderful colored photos and great information from a Biblical standpoint.
Perfect
Review by Mommabear
This is working well for my son to do independently. The stories keep his attention, and the amount of daily work is reasonable.
Fantastic!

My then 6 year old and I completed Modern History last year, including American History and included this book as a read-aloud without the teacher's guide. We will be completing American History again in our 4 year rotation and will include the teacher's guide at that time. Either way, this book is a must-have in your homeschool library! It is a beautiful, true, Biblical worldview of the American War of Independence in detail. It includes poetry of the time like Paul Revere and The Green Mountain Boys. It would be all inclusive as a separate curriculum, but we like to add in resources!
History
Review by Jennifer
This is a detailed history on the War of Independence. It is salted with extra tidbits on the results of mens actions, Bible and poetry. It would keep any child's interest.
