Encourages Creativity
Review by Kathleen C
As a homeschool mom, I’ve really appreciated how simple and approachable Art Level 2 is. The lessons are short, easy to follow, and build confidence without overwhelming my child. Art can easily get skipped in a busy homeschool, but this program makes it doable—and even enjoyable.

I also love that it encourages creativity rather than perfection, which has helped my child relax and have fun with art. From my perspective, it’s very open-and-go and doesn’t require any special preparation or art background.

Overall, it’s been a gentle, stress-free way to include art in our homeschool, and that’s exactly what we needed.
The Best Christian Art Program
Review by JC
As an artist myself, this series is turning out awesome!
I am picky because of my background. I also recognize that I'm biased towards my own style, so I want to help rather than be the main source of art instruction for my children. I love that this series adresses art fundamentals, creativity, observation, and most importantly, doing it for God's glory. Every other program I've looked into falls short in one or more of these areas.
Lest you be concerned, this is not just a repeat of Art 1 with a few extra activities. While you can do this one without having done level 1, it definitely is a step up. There is more age appropriate depth, and I think it is well suited to a 6-8yr old depending on their interest and skills. I can't wait to see this series through to the end. Julia knows her stuff and has done a great job. I'd love to see her do a calligraphy course too in the future as well.
Art 2
Review by Santina
Art 2 is a colorful, engaging art program. It is only two days per week and an elementary art curriculum that truly feels open and go. It provides a foundation for a proper pencil grip and encourages the student to take care to do their best work. Skills build slowly and the focus is on using creativity.
An Excellent Intro to Art!
Review by Becky V.
I love the heart behind this Art Level 2: teaching art as a form of worship. The focus is not on our own creativity, but on seeing art in nature and using art to glorify God. It is set up to use 2 times a week, making it a perfect addition to your homeschool routine. The lessons begin at a very basic level, slightly below a second grade level in my opinion, but increase in difficulty as you go through the book. This makes it perfect for using with multiple ages.

A daily supply list, as well as a lesson-specific supply list, makes preparation simple. Many of the supplies are common things that are found around the house. Activities include a mix of projects, coloring pages, and drawing exercises, offering plenty of variety.

Although we did not use Art Level 1, we have previously used Handwriting: A to Zoo from Master Books, and the art lessons and projects in this curriculum remind me of the style used there. Because of that positive experience, we are looking forward to using Art Level 2 next year!
Such a fun, well planned course!
Review by Michelle
This new Art curriculum is definitely a lovely resource for busy moms. It takes away the mental load of coming up with art projects and developmentally appropriate activities. From my experience the level is spot on with what many kids can do reasonably independently at this age while you continue with lessons for the older siblings. I love the bible tie ins and the use of multiple different mediums. This is definitely a fun one to add to your school bin!
Delightful, Engaging, and Creative
Review by Laurie
This art course has such a nice mix of drawing, painting, coloring, and crafts. The course also focuses on many animals and nature, which is fantastic for this age range, around 2nd grade. The course can easily be adapted to include siblings. My daughter thoroughly enjoys this course and typically wants to work on multiple days in a setting. This art course is a great addition to the MasterBooks Curriculum. I hope they continue this series through all elementary levels.
So fun!!
Review by LD
Whether you’ve done level 1 or not, don’t hesitate to get this course. While it says 2nd grade, you can easily incorporate this over a range of grades for a great family enrichment time.
Think you don’t have time to add one more thing or figure out what you need to make it happen? Well Art Level 2 is only 2 days a week, comes with a list of easy to find supplies needed each week and great instructions to help you teach your kids.
A good way to incorporate art as an elective to your homeschool days.
Beautiful and fun!
Review by Dustie
This series has been highly anticipated in my home. My youngest children are 6 and 8 years old, and they are so excited to have this. Julia Akers has done such a beautiful job on these books. I love that she shows little ones the truth that their talents and skills are blessings from the LORD and should be used to honor Him. This book naturally follows book 1, but it could easily be used if your child has not completed book 1.
It is so much more than a coloring book or a book of suggested projects, like many early elementary level art books. It is filled with fun projects that encourage individual creativity and development of artistic skills. The projects are simple and fun, and they require supplies that most homeschool families have already. There are also several memorable projects that could be made into gifts for family members.
I’m delighted to have another level of this series. It fits easily into our homeschool week, especially since it is only scheduled for two lessons per week. It gives the children something fun to look forward to.
Kids will love this!
Review by CRill
A great great introduction to Art! This course does continue from concepts learned in Art level 1 but each book is complete without the other. Art 2 starts each lesson with Bible Time exploring part of God's creation. The lessons include activities and projects that show different concepts like lines, spacing, textures, etc. A final project puts all the lessons together by making a fun presentation that can use pieces from the entire book! Students will enjoy fun projects that will build a love and appreciation for art from a young age!
Lots of fun for the littles and the middles
Review by Mamaof4
While our girls are super crafty and always doing art, our boys struggle in that department. This book is a great way to give fun, engaging, minimal supplies art for your day. All the ages got involved and loved all the lessons. Love that it uses lots of different styles and materials. We had so much art we had to start sending it to all kinds of family members (who also highly appreciated it :). Great way to help give mama ideas to stay creative.
