Master's Class High School Biology (Teacher Guide - Download)

The Biology Textbook and Teachers Guide are so well worded and organized it takes the guess work out of it while laying a foundation of solid Learning in Biology the study of Living Things.

I think many homeschooling moms have a certain amount of fear when it comes to homeschooling high school - at least when you are tackling it for the first time. This Biology course takes the fear right out of homeschooling high school - at least for Biology!

What I love most about this particular text is the marrying of God's creation and our Biblical worldview with modern science. Students will truly have the best of both worlds and be well-equipped to tackle high level sciences with confidence and a firm foundation in truth.

Each chapter is begins with "Objectives" - which give the student (and teacher) an overview of what they will get out of the chapter and "Words to Understand" - a vocabulary list for the chapter. Beautiful illustrations and photographs accompany well-written and informative text that is a pleasant read. Each chapter ends with an experiment specific to the reading in an effort to bring home the objectives through a hands-on activity.

**The Teacher's Guide proves to be an invaluable resource. With it, you will have worksheets and lab report sheets for each chapter.

The course is rigorous enough to easily be a high school science and lab credit. With minor tweaking, it could definitely be used as an honors course.

Finally, as the mom of a student that desires to be a veterinarian, I feel this course will more than prepare her for the advanced sciences ahead. It is thorough, well-organized, and comprehensive.

We will definitely be using this next year as our high school biology course.

Biology can be a complex subject to study. After all, when you are diving into the study of all living organisms, there's definitely a lot to grasp and take in. It's so important to find curriculum that is going to help students connect with what they are trying to learn. What I love about this particular Biology course from Master Books is that everything is taught from a Christian worldview. The lessons encompass God's living creation, while also coupling them with modern day advances in science, so students are getting the best of both worlds when it comes to the study of biology. This makes everything all the more fun and exciting!

Each chapter in the student text breaks down the main objectives for that lesson right in the beginning. The entire course encompasses a strong hands-on approach, which is great! While you initially have your reading portion of each lesson, it doesn't just stop there. After each lesson has been completed, a lab is tied in to bring everything together. I find this to be extremely important, especially with all the subject matter that the study of biology entails. Since there is a lot to take it, just reading text and trying to memorize everything may not be enough. That is why the course challenges students with these hands-on lab activities and real life practice, in turn, giving them a better understanding of what they're learning

The teacher guide is a vital component to have in addition to the student text. It comes complete with instructions and tips on guiding students through the lessons. I love that there is a complete listing of supplies needed for each lab. This is provided right in the beginning, for those who want to have everything they'll need ahead of time. Other features include additional worksheets and lab journaling pages for the lessons, as well as quizzes and exams. Quizzes are to be provided at the end of each lesson, while the exams cover four chapters at a time. There's even a grading sheet to keep track of quiz, exam, and lab scores. One of my favorite features in the teacher guide (as with other Master Books courses) is the inclusion of a suggested daily schedule. This is an optional feature that breaks down the coursework in a feasible manner, and is extremely helpful for taking the guesswork out of what needs to be done and when.

This also fulfills a high school science (with lab) credit requirement, which is wonderful. The course is quite comprehensive covering topics that include, but not limited to cell systems, biomes, energy, ecosystems, genetics/DNA, animal/plant classifications, and human origins. Since this is biology from a Creation perspective, there are some discussions spread throughout the lessons about evolution in comparison to God's great design. These discussions offer living proof of the Lord's purposeful plan for all life forms. The text provides detailed (and logical) examples of how evolution just simply cannot be the reasoning behind many of the events that take place in the world of science. The author does a wonderful job at settling the debates with backed up evidence, which is fantastic! The course offers a well-rounded introduction to biology, providing a solid foundation on the study of all living organisms. It's an extremely helpful course to not only satisfy the requirement for a high school lab science, but also helps prepare students for future courses and studies in related subject matter.

We've been homeschooling over ten years, with three kids in high school. All I can say is I wish we'd come across this resource years ago! Master Books makes learning hands-on, fun, and aligns with Scripture perfectly; even for our oldest students. This curriculum worked beautifully.
