Cardiovascular & Respiratory Systems Vol. 2

For Ages 12-14

The heart must ceaselessly move blood around your body to keep you alive. It pushes that blood through a system of blood vessels. Those vessels branch out to carry blood all over your body, making oxygen, nutrients, water, and dissolved electrolytes available to every cell in your body. They also carry away waste materials for disposal or recycling. The heart, with all its associated vessels, is called the cardiovascular system. This name — cardiovascular — is one of those anatomy word puzzles: cardio- means “heart” and vascular means “vessels.”

In Volume 2 of the Wonders of the Human Body series, Dr. Tommy Mitchell covers the intricate design of both the cardiovascular system, consisting of the blood, blood vessels, and heart, as well as the respiratory system that focuses on the transportation of oxygen through the body. From the level of the cells to the organs themselves, you will examine these systems in depth.

In the Cardiovascular & Respiratory Systems, prepare to discover the incredible design of the human heart, including:

  • The incredible design of the human heart and how it is really “two pumps in one!”
  • How blood moves through an incredible network of arteries and veins
  • What “blood pressure” is and the marvelous systems that help regulate it
  • How the respiratory system allows us to get the “bad air out “ and the “good air in”

Along the way, we will see what happens when things go wrong. We will also suggest things to do to keep the heart and lungs healthy. Although the world insists that our bodies are merely the result of time and chance, as you examine the human body closely, you will see that it cannot be an accident. It can only be the product of a Master Designer.

Love all the creation confirmation!

My son finished this course up recently, and did well. He usually worked on his own, but occasionally asked me to read to him. I was always impressed with the detail explained, and how that refutes old earth/evolution theories.
Great tool
Review by Marie
I have not used the teacher guides for these books. I however have these books on my shelf for reading and researching about the human body. They are a great resource for your science reference shelf.
Great for a co-op setting!

Beautiful! My upcoming 7th grader is excited to begin!
Great Intro to A and P
Review by Stephanie
My son completed this for his 7th grade year. We used with the PLP. I am a nurse and I like the way this uses a straight forward way of introducing the parts of the body. The PLP is a life saver and helped to keep him on track! He could do more lessons on days he had time and wanted to complete more. Recommended!!
