    There are so many benefits of learning to write in cursive! Cursive writing has been shown to have a positive influence on children’s spelling, their composition skills, motor skills, and word recall. It has also been shown to support the reading and writing skills of students with dyslexia. Catch on to Cursive is a 36-week, elementary-level cursive curriculum that includes two schedules, so younger and older students will both benefit from the material.

    Your student will join Skeeter, Anna, and Susie on a fun writing and fishing adventure. Through full-color worksheets and exercises, your student will learn to recognize and create precise letters. This unique, whole-child approach is a fun and unforgettable way to learn cursive penmanship.

    Within the course, your students will:

    • Earn badges for their work
    • Complete fun activities and projects to develop muscle control
    • Review each letter throughout the course
    • Learn attributes of Christ’s disciples as fishers of men
    • Grow spiritually
    • Experience the wonder of God’s creation

    Every letter will be covered for three days. On the third day, there is a weigh-in section, and every few weeks, students will participate in a Fishing Derby or Gear Up activities where they review letters they have learned up to that point. This gives a fun way for built-in review and builds up their confidence. Watch for Weigh-In challenges throughout the course so they can complete the challenges.

    Catch on to cursive is perfect for children. I like that they talk about having the motor skills developed to start cursive writing instead of starting it in a specific grade. It is more based on your child's ability which sets them up for success!

    I thought that my son would hate to learn cursive. To my surprise it was his favorite subject last year. This book lays it out very clear and simply. They little exercises to do. A great find!

    I enjoyed this book. It takes it slow and is easy to follow along. Even though my son is older now, I like to have him do a few pages out of it to give him extra practice.

    This did teach my son cursive and for that I am thankful. I am, however, very disappointed that the scriptures used are getting farther and farther away from the King James version as new books are released. I originally chose all Master Books because it leaned more towards KJV but now my kids can't trace or copy or use what is in the books. They have to get their Bibles and write the real thing separately, which is doable of course but it's very aggravating for the kids.

    This had so helped my 3rd grader with her handwriting. She had such sloppy writing and no sooner we got her into the cursive she had improved her penmanship.
    I also love how it’s not just repetitive work but exercises.

    Catch on to Cursive was the perfect book for my 3rd grade son. He took an interest in cursive writing on his own around the end of his 2nd grade year. He tried to make words connect so they would look “fancy”. I purchased Catch on to Cursive to keep his interest in cursive writing going and he took to it right away!

    I’m impressed with the thought put into the finger/hand/eye strengthening activities. Graphics and illustrations make the book inviting. The fishing theme is super cute! Our son enjoyed the activities in the book and he loved earning the badge rewards given after every few lessons.

    Sometimes the Bible lessons at the beginning of each lesson are lengthy, but I just summarize it or we watch a short video on whatever the Bible lesson is about for that day.

    We did not rush through this book because I wanted to keep it as a fun extracurricular activity (even though the book is certainly enough to count as a whole subject). We used the schedule for younger students, but we did it at a slower pace and it took our son all of 3rd grade and three quarters of 4th grade to complete the book.

    In my dream of dreams, Master Books comes out with another cursive book called "Continue in Cursive" where students can review and practice all that they have learned so far in Catch on to Cursive. [drops note into the suggestion box ;) ]

    We used this for our 3rd grader and 5th grader and it was a hit! We have tried several other cursive options over the years with our oldest son, but this is by far our favorite. Engaging with an easy to “catch on” to cursive style. Love the open and go style and Biblical content.
