There are so many benefits of learning to write in cursive! Cursive writing has been shown to have a positive influence on children’s spelling, their composition skills, motor skills, and word recall. It has also been shown to support the reading and writing skills of students with dyslexia. Catch on to Cursive is a 36-week, elementary-level cursive curriculum that includes two schedules, so younger and older students will both benefit from the material.

Your student will join Skeeter, Anna, and Susie on a fun writing and fishing adventure. Through full-color worksheets and exercises, your student will learn to recognize and create precise letters. This unique, whole-child approach is a fun and unforgettable way to learn cursive penmanship.

Within the course, your students will:

  • Earn badges for their work
  • Complete fun activities and projects to develop muscle control
  • Review each letter throughout the course
  • Learn attributes of Christ’s disciples as fishers of men
  • Grow spiritually
  • Experience the wonder of God’s creation

Every letter will be covered for three days. On the third day, there is a weigh-in section, and every few weeks, students will participate in a Fishing Derby or Gear Up activities where they review letters they have learned up to that point. This gives a fun way for built-in review and builds up their confidence. Watch for Weigh-In challenges throughout the course so they can complete the challenges.

favorite subject
Review by Ashley
This has quickly become my 7 year olds favorite subject. He will request to do cursive before other books and work. Since starting it he has switched to primarily writing in cursive. This has been such a engaging way to introduce cursive. Gentle, fun and engaging. Will use again for my other 3.
Love!

I will definitely use this for each of my kids!
Penmanship
Review by MomofFour
My daughter loved working through this book. She had so much fun following the storyline, and doing the exercises all while improving her penmanship. Her print was so hard to read, and she never wanted to practice. Working through this book, she was willing to have pencil in hand, practicing and advancing along.
My kids love it!
Review by Beth
I have two kids doing the course together and it is their favorite part of the school day! The layout is fun and I appreciate the extra steps of fun exercises or games along with the lessons. I never learned about right/left brain connections when learning cursive and probably would have enjoyed it more and done better with it if I did!
Fun activities!

To my surprise, after trying several other cursive curriculum, this one got my older boys hooked!
They even liked the extra activities. Definitely getting this book again for my younger kids when it's time for them to learn cursive handwriting.
great!!

My daughter has really enjoyed learning cursive while using this book.
Love!

Catch on to cursive is perfect for children. I like that they talk about having the motor skills developed to start cursive writing instead of starting it in a specific grade. It is more based on your child's ability which sets them up for success!
My son loved it!!
Review by Samia
I thought that my son would hate to learn cursive. To my surprise it was his favorite subject last year. This book lays it out very clear and simply. They little exercises to do. A great find!
Great Cursive Book
Review by Snowangel
I enjoyed this book. It takes it slow and is easy to follow along. Even though my son is older now, I like to have him do a few pages out of it to give him extra practice.
It did it's job
Review by Amber
This did teach my son cursive and for that I am thankful. I am, however, very disappointed that the scriptures used are getting farther and farther away from the King James version as new books are released. I originally chose all Master Books because it leaned more towards KJV but now my kids can't trace or copy or use what is in the books. They have to get their Bibles and write the real thing separately, which is doable of course but it's very aggravating for the kids.

Editor's Note: We allow our authors to use their preferred Bible version when writing a course - KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, NIV. However, we always encourage families to use their preferred Bible version alongside our curriculum.

You may view the Bible version used in each course in the product samples - just click on a product and scroll to the "Look Inside" heading. The Bible version is listed on the copyright page.
