Customer Reviews
Colorful and well-designed, this textbook and teacher guide are as simple to jump into as any other Master Books course, with the ready-to-use schedule and a writing style designed for the student to be able to use independently. The Master Books Academy video supplements have been a helpful resource for use with other math courses, so I am glad that is available with this one along with an optional downloadable solutions manual and case studies.
Over the course of four quarters, topics covered are the big picture & key skills like giving, living expenses, savings, compound interest, debt, and taxes. Budgeting for those big and small expenses is covered as well as making financial decisions (cars, career prep, housing). The course finishes with more applications, investments/retirement, and a final review.
Most important, it teaches how to make financial decisions based on what comes directly from Scripture.
I really appreciate the way this curriculum presents a biblically sound baseline for personal finance in a colorful and inviting manner! My kids are all visual learners (as am I!) and using color helps so much to make a subject feel less daunting and more engaging. I highly recommend for students with ADHD or Autism who might potentially need color and practical application!

Lots of practical tools for financial decisions such as calculating rent, college, even doing taxes. For example, little things about rent, needing a unit for 9 months and signing a one year lease for a lower monthly cost verses a higher monthly cost for no lease. do the math, which will cost more in the long run. How about if one unit covers utilities and another doesn't?
There was even a lesson on subscription services, that left me wondering how many subscription services am I using.
As a stand alone textbook it is good for an enrichment book for a parent. As a course, the Teacher Guide is needed (that's where the worksheets are).
I recommend it!
This is one of the best resources that Master Books has put out for high school students to date.
It is well written with clear and concise information that allow students to see how math is applicable in so many ways in their lives right now but also preparing them for the future.
The Biblical worldview on how to use math for your finances as well as budgeting, investments and more, is fundamental in our lives as Christians since everything is the Lords, and this course really makes that very clear.
Whether your child needs this as a credit or not, I think every high school student needs to do this course to prepare them for the world once they graduate.
