This is a true story. It comes from 1 Samuel Chapter 17 in your Bible.
In the Old Testament, we are reminded again and again through the stories that when God made a promise, He kept it. Even when the
perfect Creation was ruined, God made a plan to save us from sin. He loved us enough to sacrifice something very special to Him.
In 1 Samuel chapter 17 of the Bible, the iconic story of David and Goliath unfolds. The Philistine army gathers to fight against the Israelites, and their champion warrior, Goliath, challenges the Israelites to send out a champion to face him in single combat. Goliath is a giant, intimidating and seemingly unbeatable.
David, a young shepherd boy, arrives at the Israelite camp to bring food for his older brothers who are serving in the army. When he hears Goliath's taunts and threats, David is filled with courage and offers to fight him. Despite the doubts and skepticism of King Saul and others, David's determination prevails.
David refuses to wear the king's armor but takes his sling and chooses five smooth stones from a nearby brook. With God's strength and guidance, David confronts Goliath. He skillfully slings a stone, striking Goliath in the forehead, causing him to fall. David then takes Goliath's own sword and kills him, solidifying the victory for Israel.
This extraordinary event showcases the power of faith, courage, and trust in God. Despite being smaller and less experienced than his adversary, David's unwavering belief in God's assistance enables him to triumph over Goliath. The story serves as an inspiration, reminding us that with God's help, we can overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges.

My 8-year-old son loves the books in this series! We read one each day as part of our school time. He loves the hidden images and the deep, spiritual connections that are made, connecting the Old to the New Testament. ❤️ This is such a great retelling of a well-known Bible account!

David and Goliath
Review bySantina
This is a colorful and clear picture book that points to Jesus as our Savior. I appreciate that there are comprehension questions and picture clues woven throughout the story to help your child focus on the big picture and to retell it in their own words. Although reading comprehension is important as we teach our children to read, I especially appreciate that this book asks, "So, what's this story really about?" It then points to Jesus as our redeemer. Overall, this is a fun and very age appropriate way to help your child see how Old Testament stories point to Jesus.

Lovely Bible story books
Review byDustie
My family LOVES this series. The books are beautifully written and illustrated. This one is a retelling of the story of David and Goliath. It demonstrates how God can use those that the world deems weak or insignificant. It is such a beautiful story of God blessing David because of his faith and love toward God.
My children love the hidden pictures. They add such a fun element in these books. I love the, “so, what is the story really about?” Section. It points children to the message of the gospel.
These books are such a great addition to my family’s home library. They would also make a great gift for Christmas, birthdays, or Easter.

Beware of the leaven
Review byhillary
As the mother of a young son, I am obsessed with children's books that contain sound doctrine. Many of the books in this series do exactly that. I have been so delighted with this series and even ordered multiples of one particular book (Moses and the Bronze Serpent) to give away. That being said, this book, David and Goliath, is not good and I hope it will be recalled and edited. Remember that Jesus said, "A little leaven leavens the whole lump." This book teaches that to be saved one must "repent and believe" then goes on to define repentance not as scripture does (a change of mind / change in the inner man [metanoia in the Greek]) but defines it as a being sorry for sin and turning from sin. According to Scripture, sin is transgression of the law. Turning from sin would mean turning from transgressing the law, which means keeping the law. This perverts the gospel, because Scripture is abundantly clear that we are not saved by law keeping.
"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:
‘Behold, you despisers,
Marvel and perish!
For I work a work in your days,
A work which you will by no means believe,
Though one were to declare it to you.’ ” Acts 13:38-41
"But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:4-7
I had planned to send this as an email to the company but saw that this book has multiple 5-star reviews. A little leaven leavens the whole lump...I humbly ask you to please reconsider the teaching and reading of this book to our babes until this message is corrected. Even if every church in America teaches one must turn from their sins to be saved, please be faithful to scripture which tells us that whoever believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave his blood as payment for our sins and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, will be saved.
1 Cor. 15:1-4
Acts 10:43
Acts 13:48
Galatians 1:6-12
and many more....

Colorful and Engaging
Review byDawn
A bright and colorful picture book that shares the story of David and Goliath. I appreciate that it gives the scripture references and explains that it is a true story. It also connects the story of David and Goliath with the coming of Jesus and how he overcame death on our behalf. There are some hidden pictures for young children to find which may help keep their focus and attention.

Old Testament story revealing the gospel
Review byLaura
There are many references to Jesus Christ in the Old Testament that aren’t commonly taught. In this story the author summarizes 1 Samuel 17, David and Goliath, in a way that is palatable for young kids. After the story it is revealed how it parallels the story of Jesus!
We are truly enjoying this series of books that ties the events found in the Old Testament to our savior in a fun and engaging way. From the image search, the follow up questions to the dictionary at the end, you are sure to enjoy these books!

Points to the Gospel
Review byBecky V.
A beautifully illustrated and simple telling of the story of David and Goliath. Perfect to read to a young child, or for an early to elementary reader.
We really enjoyed the hidden things to look for as we read through this story. My daughter had so much fun looking for each item and I loved how at the end, those items were used to summarize the story just told, and then used again to show how the story is ultimately about Jesus. This book goes beyond just the typical bible story and points children straight to the Gospel.

Adorable Children’s Book with an Fantastic Message
Review byKathleen C
This book is the retelling of David fighting Goliath from I Samuel Chapter 17. The story is very engaging for children. The pictures included are wonderful- they tell the story to a non reader as well.
It includes: information about the author in the Bible- Samuel, special words with definitions and a scripture verse.
This clearly shows how the story of David and Goliath relates to Jesus. Jesus smashed death for all and He lives forever.
Just like David was a hero, Jesus is our hero and sits on the throne in heaven forever.
I highly recommend this book for your home library.

Fun little book
Review byYulia
This is a wonderful new reader for younger kids to learn about the story of David and Goliath, but the author does not stop here, he uses this story to point to Jesus for little kids to create this connection.
I read this with my 7 and 9 yo, and they loved it. They enjoyed looking for the special symbols in the book during the reading time. I am sure even toddlers will be able to comprehend this book: it is written very simply, uses beautiful bright pictures to capture the attention and a fun little twist to make sure that the kids stay attentive.

Little Learners will Love This
Review byLexie
This book is about the well known story of David and Goliath. The illustrations are engaging as well. My favorite part is that this book goes beyond teaching about David and his amazing feat, as it relates the story to Jesus. It explains that when Christ died on the cross, it looked like all hope was lost, but Christ was victorious over the grave!
