For You They Signed (All in One Edition): The Spiritual Heritage of Those Who Shaped Our Nation is a unique open and go homeschool curriculum designed to teach junior high students America’s history and its Christian roots. While many work to erase our nation’s history of honoring Almighty God, this course uses source documents to reveal the truth. Students will learn about each of the signers of the Declaration of Indepedence, study Christian character traits, and much more.
Study the Christian heritage of those who shaped America in Marilyn Boyer’s revised For You They Signed. This all-in-one edition offers both the student text as well as the assignments, quizzes, and cumulative tests.
This study of our Christian heritage is focused on the historical events and people surrounding the Declaration of Independence. The early Founding Fathers of the United States of America were men of principle who debated important points of government, liberty, and the God-given rights of mankind. Their work and sacrifice created an enduring legacy that led to some of the most influential documents in history, like the Constitution of the United States of America.
In this American history homeschool curriculum, your junior high students will have an opportunity to learn how the American colonists chose to respond to the increasing tyranny of the British Empire and why the course of revolution was one they took after all other efforts at relief had failed.
Designed for grades 7-9, lessons contain a mix of source documents, related scriptures, short biographies, quotes, and real-world connections. The course includes a suggested daily schedule and a variety of exercises to enhance understanding of the course material.

Wonderfully written.
Review byJessica
This was by far my 8th graders favorite book. We completed other History lessons before switching to MasterBooks but he still wanted to learn more so we purchased this thinking it may be a great addition to what he had already learned. It did not disappoint and he couldn’t go through this fast enough. It is very through without being dry and I enjoyed watching how eager my 8th grade was to tell me all about the presidents each day during our discussions.

Open and Go
Review byDawn
This all in one curriculum includes the text and worksheets in one volume. There is an introduction and then each section features information and worksheets about the signers of the Declaration of Independence for each colony. This could be completed independently by an older student and would provide a great deal of relevant historical information. I also think it would make a great book to incorporate into family studies by reading the text and discussing the questions together.

Fascinating course
Review byLaura
Understanding the foundation of our country is very important. How many Americans can truly say that they know the values of the founding fathers and the sacrifices they made to ensure our freedoms that we enjoy today? The Declaration of Independence is often quickly taught without giving a second thought to the men behind the signatures. This book is packed with information for each signer including a summary of their basic personal information and public service timeline in government. It is formatted in a way that isn’t overwhelming. To reinforce what has been read, there are worksheets for every 2 to 2.5 pages. At the end of the book are all the teacher resources such as quizzes, tests and answer keys. This book is truly insightful into the heart behind the forming of The Declaration of Independence.

Excellent study of our Founding Fathers
Review byRebecca V.
I have always believed that one of the most important things is knowing and understanding what the foundation of this country was built upon. This course is an absolute must for students looking to further their understanding of the Christian roots of America’s history and to learn what standing strong for God means.
For You They Signed is an all-in-one course that takes your student through year-long study of the Founding Fathers who signed the Declaration of Independence. This course is written at a 7th to 9th grade level and is set up to follow a 36-week schedule at 5 days a week. It includes a daily schedule, answer keys, assessments, and application assignments. There is also an emphasis on note-taking and highlighting the text for review purposes.
It really is such a well-written course with detailed information about each signer. The variety of activities keeps this course exciting and helps to draw your student into the history. The details included make this just a beautiful text. I am so excited to be able to utilize this course in our homeschool and see how it builds the character of my children.

MUST READ
Review byLacee
I LOVE the redesign of this book to make it an all in one for Middle School and early High School. My son will be doing it next year. I loved the original set and this just makes it so much better. It is completely open and go.
In typical, Master Books fashion this book is beautifully done. Amazing pictures, easy to understand text, exercises to help solidify information and help you truly think about what you're reading. It focuses on the achievements, character, and overall lives of all the signers of the Declaration of Independence. You will get to know each signer and what they believed and wanted for our great nation, some more in depth than others that were not as well known. Now more than ever students need to go through this book; adults too. The first quote in the Background section of the book sums up the importance of this book and the knowledge it contains: "A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do. We are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we have come from, or what we have been about. Woodrow Wilson"
I definitely encourage you to do this curriculum with your students, or even just on your own.

Well-Laid-Out History
Review byLaurie
At the beginning of this book, a question is brought up in the Authour's Note section. Who can name more than three signers of the Declaration of Independence? I pondered this question for a minute and asked my children how many signers they could name. Answers varied from a few correct to past presidents (probably not even alive during that time). I realized how much more there is to learn on this subject.
We adapted this book to a group setting, ages 10, 13, and 15. Kids take turns reading the assigned text aloud, and we answer the questions out loud as a group, which gives additional time to ask more profound thinking questions. This book is undoubtedly unique, and your student(s) will surely gain a deeper understanding of our nation's history.

Important course
Review byYulia
This is a very important course for our kids and even us to take to remember the foundation on which this country was built. This is an all in one edition which means that the Teacher Guide was included in the textbook. In some way I think it is very convenient since each lesson is broken down according to the Yearly schedule and followed by the practice pages, so students can solidify what they learn as they go, but it may be bothersome for some who does not plan to use the worksheets or does not like the chapters to be broken down in such manner. It will work according to a personal preference.
The book itself is done beautifully. It talks about each Founding Father who signed the Declaration of Independence. This course provides a pretty thorough biography for each of the Signers and includes pictures of supportive historical documents, paintings, houses of some of the signers, historical places and important items, even of the original money. It also includes the quotes from each of the Signers either of what they said or what was historically found to be written about them.
The course is organized by the colonies and discusses all the Signers who lived in that certain colony. The author finishes the course by providing as a conclusion the importance to follow God as a nation. At the end of the book, the author provides: Character Quality Definitions, Quizzes and Tests, and Answer Keys. This course is beautifully done and consists of loads of important information. I highly recommend it!

History that builds character
Review byAudrey525
For You They Signed has been on my wish list for several years, anticipating getting it as a supplement for high school. When the new all in one version came out written for the middle schooler, I was ecstatic! It is all that I was hoping for and even more. I love the simple, open and go format. Having the worksheets included in with the text makes it so straight forward. I appreciated the daily worksheets being varied in type. So often, its just short answer questions, or just multiple choice. There is a nice variety in this book and good for many learning styles. There’s even a devotional quality in the questions and applies character traits of the biographies to the student’s life. I love this thought-provoking aspect. I also appreciate the review days that are built in. They encourage study skills and note taking, which is so crucial in preparing for high school courses. I would highly recommend this course for any middle schooler or 9th grader, and even as a supplement for high school. I would love to see an Academy Course to go along with this one!
