My son is a struggling reader and I was having a hard time connecting the dots with phonics for him. This book is giving him confidence especially with the connection to reading the Bible stories and the truths it implements throughout I will be saving to use with my daughter once she is ready as well!
Simple and effective

My first grader already knew how to read when we purchased the Foundations Phonics book but I know how important having exceptional reading skills is during their young years. She is an exceptional reader thanks to this book!
Outstanding!

We are starting our 4 yr old out with this phonics book before he moves into the LA1 book. He knows all of his letters and their sounds, and is reading 3 letter words, but hasn’t fully grasped the concept of reading yet. I LOVE how this book builds on itself. At first, I thought it would be really boring for him to “learn” 1 letter per day, but that’s not all that you’ll find in this book. It takes your child through the story of creation, fall of man, and on through Genesis as they learn about each letter. After the first 3 letters, they begin to form words so that they can feel that they are learning to read very quickly! I love that it not only offers a great pace for learning to form words, but it also offers a Bible lesson every day!
Love it

I like tha lt reviews the alphabet, then eases into the phonics and sight words. My kid struggles with reading and this is a great book for refreshing their memory, and then moving forward into reading.
Loved!

Simple and Biblical

We loved the progression and connections for each letter sound and the Bible stories. It seemed to take a long time to get through each sound and it took longer to get to the Language Lessons for a Living Education book. We still really enjoyed it and my daughter was excited about learning about each sound.
Helped my daughter read

Five Stars!

Did not expect this book to take us on such a beautiful journey through the Bible like it did while simultaneously teaching my boys phonics! It gave a clear presentation of the Gospel–starting with the creation of the world and ending with a loving and personal invitation to follow Christ. I was so very moved with the way the Gospel is shared.

I followed the lesson plans for each day, not understanding why the order of the letters presented weren’t in alphabetical order, but I was glad that we stuck with the sequence of the book because it followed the accounts of the Bible and the salvation message in a way that flowed together well.

Sometimes the lesson narratives were a little too long to read, so I reworded it into a shortened version to fit my sons’ attention span.
We started this book in the fall semester and then transitioned smoothly into Language Lessons for a Living Education: Level 1 for the spring semester.

I did this book with both sons, one in 2020 and the other in 2022, when they were 6 years old. They both learned all the letter sounds and blends presented in the book and gained confidence in reading.

It helped to get this book spiral bound at Staples since I wanted to keep the book together, but also have the pages lay flat for little ones just learning how to write.
