The term “forensic science” refers to the acquisition of knowledge gained from the evidence, analysis, and investigator interpretations with the goal of presenting this knowledge before individuals in the judicial system.

While television, movies, and podcasts have popularized forensic science, much of what is portrayed in the media is not accurate. Intro to Forensic Science from a Biblical Worldview homeschool curriculum was developed to teach your students how to use keen observational techniques, understand the disciplines that make up forensic science, and know how to apply them to seeking first the Kingdom of God.

In every lesson, applicable Scripture is woven throughout the text, along with practical labs, and review materials. Case studies are included to raise the student’s awareness of some of the most famous crimes in history, both solved and unsolved, while examining real investigative practices, time frames, and judicial results. My daughter is really enjoying this course, and as a psychology major, I'm enjoying it as well!
It was a fun series
Review by MrsMom
It was a well thought out series and book set. The real cases mixed in with the hypothetical were well done and created a true sense of curiosity and wonder in learning about forensics without it being grisly and celebrating death and diabolical actions. I would give it 5 stars but as a mom of 2 kids doing this set at the same time, I would rather the worksheets be in the student's book and not the teacher one. We ordered two textbooks and one teacher book to discover that really they could have shared the text but here we are now photocopying all the worksheets? No, that's a time suck and hassle, so we ended up getting another teacher book. Perhaps be put the student work with the student workbook. Also, the set up in the worksheet/teacher book was quite annoying. It's almost set up to just do the next page every day--EXCEPT for when there is a quiz or heaven forbid a test. Those are arranged elsewhere in their own separate orders in the back of the book. I would prefer, as would my kids, to just have day one be page one day two is page two and if day three is a quiz then that quiz is on page 3. I get that the teacher book is set for a school teacher to remove the pages and run thru a copier for a class but as a homeschooler, just make the student have his own workbook and make a smaller removable answer key for the parent. Other than that, the subject material was great.
Can’t say enough good things

My 16 year old daughter loved this book! So interesting and so much information. She normally hates science, but this was perfect!
Well done!!!!

I purchased this course at our local Christian bookstore to use with my three children this year, and I must say that it’s one of the best science courses we’ve done yet! All of the supplies were easy to find (if we didn’t already have them at home), case studies were extremely thought provoking, and the author accomplished the most important thing of all by pointing it all back to God. Thank you so much Master Books!
Exceeds our expectations

I am using Forensic Science with my three high school students (9th, 10th & 11th) and we are loving it! I love how it uses real live cases, some that I’m familiar with but my kids are not, to explore the science of how they gather evidence and use it to solve crimes. Science has never been my favorite subject to teach/help with, but I look forward to it now. My favorite part is how it has a Biblical World view and it applies so many things throughout the lessons to what the Bible says and is a spiritual learning tool along with the science. I originally just got a set with 1 text & 1 teachers guide, but went back and ordered my 3 students their own guide to fill in the lab info, because answering everything in a notebook doesn’t work as well. We are on unit 3 and are excited to keep learning through the rest of the book.
Fascinating

The Intro to Forensic Science Set includes both the teacher and student books for a fascinating out-of-the-box lab-based science course that is sure to keep your student engaged all year long. This course enables students to evaluate real case studies, analyze forensic science articles, participate in hands-on labs, and develop an understanding of how to view forensics through the lens of God’s Word. This course is recommended for 11th-12th grade and because it does cover include actual historical cases that are grim, I would not suggest using it with younger students unless they are very mature.

The teacher's guide includes unit and cumulative tests, suggested grading parameters, supply lists, a suggested daily schedule, student worksheets, and a variety of activities. Students will learn about the importance of documentation of evidence, how to identify a variety of tool marks, calculate the trajectory of a bullet, analyze handwriting, and more!

The Intro to Forensic Science student book includes a text that is fascinating as well as vibrant and colorful images and graphics.

I would highly recommend this course for any upper high school student interested in a career in law enforcement or forensics.

Intro to Forensic Science
I like the layout of this curriculum. This course is made for 11th and 12th graders, due to some of the content. There are eight units in this class unit 1 is an introduction with two lessons Unit 2 is about the crime scene and has two lessons unit 3 is about physical evidence with five lessons unit 4 is biological evidence with six lessons Unit 5 is about transitory evidence with 10 lessons unit 6 is about forensic tools with four lessons unit 7 is about forensic specialist with two lessons and Unit 8 is about the judicial system with three lessons giving you 34 lessons. The pictures in the textbook are amazing at the beginning of each lesson there is a case study which is followed by information that is needed to know about the topic. It gives you the detailed stages of a bug and how it works with the crime scene to determine when the crime happened if your child is interested in forensic science this is a great starting point to see if that is what they want to do.

Teacher's Guide to intro two forensic science
This book is the worksheets, quizzes, and tests for the course. It also gives the master supply list broken down into categories along with a schedule. This course is covered over 180 days and is worth one credit for high school students. There are also 45 labs 2 Observation Labs 8 unit tests and 2 cumulative tests. The answer key to the worksheets and test most of the lab answers vary from student to student this book gives you as a parent to credit your student on what they know and is a very good course I would recommend it if anyone’s student is interested in law enforcement or forensic science.
Great course for aspiring criminal justice majors
Review by deon
If your teenager is looking to pursue a career in the criminal or legal field, this is a great course for them! This 36-week class details many different methods that police and detectives use when solving crimes, while still keeping God at the center. The first lesson starts off by telling the student what - or rather, who - is the source of all truth and justice.
The textbook is full of helpful photos and graphs, and even features pictures of real-life pieces of historical evidence. The beginning of every lesson covers a famous criminal case and helps to introduce the chapter to the student. The recommended grade level, 11-12th grade, is best, due to the nature of some of the mentioned crimes (the Unabomber, John Wayne Gacy, OJ Simpson, etc.).
The supply list is very detailed, and is sorted out by the type of item needed (household, craft, food, etc.) The homework sufficiently covers the material found in the textbook. The homework is structured so that the student is thoroughly tested on what they’ve learned. The labs and case studies make for fun, hands-on supplemental material.
Overall, this is an amazing science course! With lots of quips and quotes from the Baker Street detective, this is a great course for those who wish to enter forensics as a career or really, any teen who is passionate about finding the truth behind a crime.
A fascinating course

Students evaluate real case studies, analyze forensic science articles, participate in hands-on labs, and develop an understanding of how to view forensics through the lens of Gods word.
Scripture is woven throughout each lesson. There are labs and review materials to enhance understanding of each concept.

Teaches that there are two sciences: Observational and Historical. Forensic science applies both of these.

34 lessons beginning with the history of science. Some of the topics included are Physical Evidence, Biological Evidence, Transitory Evidence, Forensic Tools, Forensic Specialties, and The Judicial System.

This is a very captivating course to use regardless of what you plan on doing as you go into the workforce.

*This course was created for 11th-12th grade students because of the sensitive content included.
Excellent course!
Review by Becky V.
Intro to Forensic Science is an excellent course that will take your upper high school student into the world of analyzing a crime scene, weapons, handwriting analyses, computer crimes, DNA profiling, fingerprinting, facial recognition, the judicial system, and so much more, all with a biblical worldview. This course is absolutely fascinating.

It is a designed for grades 11-12 as a one-year course with labs that will earn your student 1 credit. Time investment is about 45 minutes for each lesson, scheduled five days a week.

The student text uses real case studies and hands-on labs to understand the basics of forensics. Any student who is fascinated with crime shows, or has an interest in the medical or legal field will complete this course with a greater understanding of the subject matter. And the best part, this course challenges your student over and over to look at the subject matter through the lens of God’s Word. It’s not an easy course, especially with the cases that are covered, but it is an eye-opening course that will push your student in skills of critical thinking and reflection.

The student text is laid out in a very organized manner, taking your student first through what forensic science is and then diving into the studies of crimes scenes and the different types of evidence, finishing with forensic tools used, specialities of forensics, and the judicial system. I really appreciate how each lesson (chapter) specifically goes into every topic viewed from a biblical worldview. It is not skirted around, it is very intentional in discussing each topic and relating it to what God’s Word says.

The teacher guide for Intro to Forensic Science is very thorough and well organized also. It includes a weekly lesson schedule, exercises, labs, extension activities, exams (unit tests and cumulative tests), answer key, and master supply list. The suggested daily schedule is set up to cover the text over 36 weeks, 5 days a week. A lesson typically includes terms to know, a case study, a page to take notes on the case, exercise worksheet(s), application, and a lab.

For the parent, it is recommended to review the case study and discuss it with your student in order to address any of their notes taken as they read the case. It also allows you the opportunity to talk through any sensitive or difficult topics, as one of the subject matter can be graphic or violent.

Exercises included in this course vary from multiple choice questions regarding topics discussed in the student text, to short answers that require thought and reflection.

The teacher guide provides you with everything you need to successfully guide your student through this phenomenal course of forensic science from a biblical worldview.

I highly recommend this course to every high school student who has an interest in forensic science.
