Very Extensive Study
Review by Lexie
I was rather on the fence about this curriculum. My daughter is not interested in entering the medical field so I was not sure this would be a topic she would enjoy. But I was wrong! She really enjoyed it! The first 45 days are spent going through the History of Medicine book. The teacher's guide provides a general outline to follow along with that tells the student what pages to read in the text and then what pages to answer questions. She found it fascinating to learn about how medicine was performed in early years, and thus she said she was very grateful that we live in this day and age where we've had these experiences in the past to pave the way to better medical practices. The student also learns about many of the medical pioneers throughout history that had Christ as their center and guide! The next 45 days are spent in the book the Genesis of Germs. It was very interesting to learn about microorganisms from a Biblical perspective. There were times when my daughter found this text hard to follow, but she was much more informed on viruses, bacteria, etc. after going through this book. The next 45 days are spent in Body by Design. This book gives the student an in depth view and knowledge of all of the body's systems. Bible references and verses are given throughout the text as well. The final 45 days dive into the book The Building Blocks in Life Science. This book is a great creation based book that teaches the student how so much of our body and DNA shows our creator as the master designer. This book would also be a great tool to help someone understand why evolution is not true. My only complaint about this set is the lack of color in all of the books. There were times when it would have been nice to have more engaging photos throughout the book. With that being said, I still felt it was an excellent course - well laid out and easy to open and go. All questions are located in the teacher's guide, and my favorite - the quizzes, tests, and all answers are provided in the back of the teacher's guide!
Excellent Course!
Review by Becky V.
Intro to Pre-Med Studies is an excellent course that covers the history of medicine, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and genetics. It takes you through four texts, each written with a biblical perspective.

This course covers so much great information! Each text was so fascinating, some harder to get through than others, but worth it. This course is excellent for anyone with the desire to learn more about the body and the history of medicine, and a must for anyone looking into a career in the medical field.

In Exploring the History of Medicine, the chapters are short and written in an easy language. Each chapter begins with symptoms (problems in the history of medicine), takes you through diagnosing the discoveries, and closes with the diagnoses (the solution or improvement to the study of medicine). It is such a fun way to study the history of medicine with an emphasis on a biblical perspective. I love that each chapter gives you a small bite which allows you to really understand and appreciate the subject matter. My 5th grader really enjoys history and science and found this to be really interesting!

The Genesis of Germs has so much good information in it - and I mean a lot of it! It approaches the subject of germs with a biblical worldview. It is definitely a very in-depth microbiology book, but one that helps you understand microbes and the origin of infectious diseases with a biblical perspective. It is definitely thorough in its content and highly informative. An excellent resource for any student interested in a career in the healthcare field.

Body by Design is an excellent book on the study of basic anatomy and physiology with an emphasis on a biblical perspective. It covers the 11 body systems, giving an overview of the anatomical parts and how they function. I found the Disease Focuses to be very interesting! The format of the text is a bit crowded, but the figures and pictures are so helpful and informational and definitely aid in understanding. I found this to be a great introduction to anatomy and physiology!

Building Blocks in Life Science helps you to understand how the study of genetics makes it very difficult to uphold the belief of evolution. It consistently is pointing you to Scripture to show how to view the topic matter from a biblical perspective. I love how each chapter closes with a Form Your Foundation to further defend creationism. This is a such an informational text as well as one that will help you to further develop your education and skills to defend your faith.

The Intro to Pre-Med Studies Teacher Guide is an excellent and necessary resource to have in order to help guide your student through the course successfully. It schedules out the four required texts over 36 weeks, with each text being read over a 9-week period. The schedule also assigns the exercises, quizzes, and test for each text.

The exercises vary per text, but may include fill in the blank exercises, matching terms, short answers, completing an illustration, glossary terms, and more. I found the exercises to be very appropriate to the content presented in each of the texts. Quizzes and tests are mainly multiple choice, fill in the blank, and/or matching terms. Answer keys are include for all worksheets, quizzes, and tests.

I feel this course is a gift that you can give to your kids as they come to understand the study of medicine and the design of the body with a biblical worldview.
Well Rounded Course
Review by Laurie
This course is informative and great for students beyond Pre-Med and anyone interested in science in general. It starts with the history of medicine and then moves on to the Genesis of Germs book. This book has a lot of information to digest, including microbes, bacteria, fungi, and viruses. This book alone would be great to add to your home library. The third book, Body by Design, takes the students in-depth into the body's systems. This book's chapters are reasonable in length to read and include checking your understanding at the end of each chapter. The final book in the set is Building Blocks in Life Science. This book focuses on genes, natural selection, DNA, and more. This course has fifteen quizzes and four tests throughout the 180-day open-and-go schedule. It would be improved with optional special projects, experiments, and color images in the texts. However, for any student thinking college may be in their future or those with a high interest in science, this course is very worthwhile and offers a wealth of knowledge.
