In Matthew chapter 8 of the Bible, Jesus encounters a man with leprosy. The man approaches Jesus, kneels before him, and says, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." Filled with compassion, Jesus reaches out his hand and touches the man, saying, "I am willing; be clean." Instantly, the man is healed, and his leprosy is completely gone.
Jesus then instructs the man to go and show himself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. This was a requirement for those who had been healed of leprosy to be declared clean and reintegrated into society.
This story demonstrates Jesus' authority and compassion as he not only heals the man but also touches him, which was considered taboo for someone with leprosy. It shows Jesus' willingness to extend his power and healing to those who are considered outcasts and demonstrates his desire to restore them to their communities.
