Jesus Rescues

This is the retelling of the adulterous woman what the Pharisees brought to Jesus. It is told in a very simple way that is very easy for little kids to understand. There is no mention of the sin this woman committed or the punishment. Instead the focus is on how Jesus made everyone aware that we are all sinners that deserve grace & mercy. It concludes with the gospel. The last page is a glossary of a few words that kids may need deeper understanding of. This is another great addition to this series of books.

This book tells a story of Jesus that comes from John 8. It does not use Jesus exact words nor does it tell the entire story, it just says a woman who broke God’s law. It does not discuss which law she broke. Nor does it say Jesus crouched and wrote in the sand and said (John 8:7b)“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her” – I feel like the story would be better if it gave this important detail. It then ties this story from John 8 to Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. It ends with a words to know section.
I feel like overall these are great books, but this one misses the mark for me because it left out important details.

Beautiful book with an important message. This is the retelling of Jesus rescuing a woman who had sinned as told in John Chapter 8.
It includes: information about the author in the Bible-John, special words with definitions, and a scripture verse.
The wording and the pictures are very engaging for young children.
The best part of this book is the profound message: Jesus rescued all of us from our sins by giving His life for us.
I highly recommend this book for your home library.

Not only is this a wonderful little book with a powerful message, it also provides great reading practice. My early readers enjoy reading some of the pages when we are reading this aloud together and though they need help with some of the words, many of them are sight words or easily sounded out phonetically. It’s also easy and enjoyable for my third grader (and up) to read to younger siblings, and easy for them to follow and understand.

This book uses the story of the “woman who had broken God’s law” (John 8 - no details about the sin or proposed punishment) to show how Jesus loves and rescues sinners, even though they deserve punishment. Whether we live in obvious sin like the woman in the story or live an outwardly religious life like the Pharisees, we all deserve punishment for breaking God’s Law and need Jesus to rescue us! He did just that by dying on the cross to pay for our sin, then rising from the dead defeating sin and death forever. We can trust Him to rescue us!

The “about the author” page is neat as it tells a little bit about John and how you can read his other true stories about Jesus in the Gospel of John in the Bible. (My children love that part and never want me to skip it!) There’s also a basic glossary with a few words at the end. I’m thankful for this addition to our library.

This is an excellent book for children that retells the true story of the woman who was caught in sin by religious leaders and brought to Jesus, and how he challenged them that whoever was without sin could cast the first stone at her. It is a story of forgiveness and love. It goes on to explain how Jesus steps in and rescues each of us by taking our punishment.

We love these books. They are fun to read and the pictures are amazing, but also so telling of the truth!

This is a kids book that is a true story that is from John Chapter 8 in the Bible. At the beginning of the story the kids have to pay attention so they can find the hidden pictures. At the end of the book there is a section label words to know which has the meaning of the words if your child does not know. It is a very good book for kids to read and or parents read to them. Totally love this book.
