Homeschool families love that Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 2 continues the fun and engaging story of Claire and Micah. Using the Master Books method of education, author Kristen Pratt incorporates poems and picture studies, as well as faith-growing verses to reinforce what students are learning. Educational activities and assignments also include memorization, grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, observation, psalms, and letters. Students learn to apply their new skills by creating their own stories from pictures and sentences.

Level 2 focuses on developing early reading and narration skills. Your student will start forming basic sentences utilizing phonics, observation, and reading comprehension. By the end of the course, students should be able to comfortably write up to three sentences at a time.

A helpful and detailed daily schedule:

  • DAY 1 - A special feature or a short story; weeks in between alternate between picture studies and reading poetry or a psalm.
  • DAY 2 & 3 - Learn about writing topics such as grammar and punctuation
  • DAY 4 - Create a story, poem, or psalm
  • DAY 5 - Focus on spelling and vocabulary

Each quarter has five stories, two picture studies (one of which is Bible-based) and two poems (one of which is a Psalm.) Using the spelling words and the dictionary worksheets, students will create their own dictionary as they move week by week through the material.

Scope and sequence, a daily course calendar, and additional learning resources including independent reading lists, spelling words, practice sheets and more are included to help your student master basic concepts. Reviews are also incorporated throughout the course to help them understand and apply what they learn.

Only program I can stick with
Review by Jenn
I switched over to this LA program last February because I needed something that was engaging, to the point and most of all something that didn't take very long and this was it! Both teacher and student are thriving. This is the only LA program that I have followed through with this long and am definitely going to be doing the next level next year. Thank you Master Books for this wonderful program, greatly appreciate it.

Just what my child needed
Review by Nereida
My son was struggling but this course pulled everything together for him. From art to reading with me and basic grammar instruction that is appropriate for where he was at. Though he is older and a struggling student with reading this course helped him feel accomplished overall and gain confidence! He is learning grammar, drawing what he learned(comprehension) and learning to be a creative writer and thinker. He doesn’t feel stuck. I recommend this course for anyone. It’s doable and enjoyable for parents and students! This series still allows for life to happen without the kill and drill for hours. Simplicity is effective! As you grow with the course it becomes even better and really picks up to prepare a child for all styles of writing! The new high school course LL9 is fantastic and the literature is a classic! Definitely a new favorite for LA here! My kids continue to score above grade level on yearly testing. Don’t be fooled this series is a win and
Adaptable and LifeProof! A developmental delight!
Review by Charity
My daughter was very good at reading and writing from the start, but yet the language arts program we had chosen for 1st grade was bringing lots of tears. I wasn't sure why though because my daughter seemed advanced for her age. I decided to try MB because even though I wasn't sure if it would be enough, at least it might not be as traumatizing. I second guessed my decision and then decided to join the Master Books app to help me stick with what I had chosen.

After chatting with other MB Moms and listening to Carrie Bailey speak on developmentally appropriate learning, a light bulb went on and I realized the genius of these short and sweet lessons. My daughter was simultaneously being challenged and having fun!

The day 4 writing assignments were a precious window into her world as she learned to express her thoughts and ideas better about the happenings around her. I Especially treasure the sweet psalms of praise that she wrote.

LLFALE 2 also was life proof. Although we had to take an extended break due to a high risk pregnancy and NICU stay ( 100 days in the hospital between the two) we were able to pick up right back where we left off when I got home. It worked well with couch schooling and in the waiting rooms during our many doctor's appointments.

This series is a gem! Master Books truly is enough!

Pulling my 3rd grader out of public school this year... I had no idea where to start. He strongly disliked reading. He did not even like books. I thought to myself... well why don't I just start him at 2 for Language. It was the perfect idea. This has helped build his confidence up. He loves to open this book each day. The lessons are easy and manageable for him so he does not get overwhelmed. It is simply perfect. We are very excited for Language Lessons 3 when he is ready.

I love how not overwhelming it is when comes to all the grammar and phonics rules. I was a little disappointed in the spelling words but other than that, I'm definitely using the curriculum next year!
