Complete with fun, full-color worksheets and the continued story of Claire and Micah, Level 4 keeps students engaged and excited to learn more!

Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 4 teaches students to recognize types of verbs and verb agreement, plural pronouns, prefixes, contractions, synonyms, root words and more. Continuing with what the student has learned in Level 3, Book 4 will add to their communication skills. They will review and refine lessons from Level 3 in addition to learning these new skills.

Within the course, students will:

  • Master state of being verbs, action verbs, and possessive nouns
  • Review sentences, singular and plural nouns, adjectives and adverbs
  • Identify abbreviations, proper use of punctuation marks, spelling, root words, compound words, and suffixes
  • Create their own dictionary with words learned through the course
  • Learn to create good paragraphs based on structure and comprehension
  • Develop skills in using the dictionary and a thesaurus for spelling and vocabulary- building
  • Explore the Scripture, parts of letter writing, copywork, and more!

Language Lessons for a Living Education is uniquely effective in teaching communication skills and the Gospel. In Level 4 of this award-winning series, each quarter has five stories, two picture studies (one of which is Bible-based), and two poems (one of which is a Psalm). Using the spelling words and the Dictionary Worksheets, students will create their very own dictionary as they move week by week through the material.

A helpful and detailed daily schedule:

  • DAY 1: Focus on a short story, poem, picture study, select Bible verses
  • DAY 2 & 3: Writing topics such as grammar and punctuation
  • DAY 4: Reading from 101 Favorite Stories of the Bible, Scripture copywork and memorization
  • DAY 5: Creating your own dictionary with a focus on spelling and vocabulary

Our Favorite!
Review by Sheena
Language Arts is not my 4th graders strongest subject -- this curriculum has made our school days so much less stressful. He has been able to grasp concepts much easier with this learning style, and the Biblical aspect of the lessons are such a blessing. I feel like Master Books has truly become a partner with our family in discipling our children to grow in their walk with the Lord. Forever thankful for this company and their commitment to providing homeschoolers with a solid education that also points them to Christ.
Daughter loves it!
Review by Rosemary
We have been doing the LLFLE series since level 2, and my daughter loves it! Her favorite day is on Thursdays (day 4) where she gets to read the story from the 101 Bible stories book, and then she gets to write and draw about it in her Language workbook.
My Daughters Favorite
Review by Kim
Master Books has been a part of our homeschool for years now. It is my daughter's favorite curriculum. We look forward to it every year. The lessons are just right for us and we can go down rabbit holes if learning or expanding on anything we wish. If extra practice is needed in anything the lesson are to the point and gives us the time we need if we need to do so. I love the simplicity of the program. The scope and sequence and answer key is all included. One book that it and is so helpful for me as a mom if several how schoolers. I find this program to be a gem, my daughter is confident once she's completed the program and actually enjoys it all the way through. Thanks Master Books for creating this wonderful program!

We used this with our oldest and loved it so much our youngest will be using it as well. We love that the Bible is incorporated so wonderfully through the lessons.
Love this
Review by Heather
Our daughter finished her grade 3 curriculum in March and started on this grade 4 LLFAL and really enjoys it. It’s not so strenuous as the curriculum she was using before - so it is fun for her. She loves the little “Bible” to read every few lessons. I like that it doesn’t take up too much time as we have incorporated Latin into our schedule this year which I feel goes hand in hand with learning the English Language rules.
Cant wait to start in the fall!
Review by Ashley
We are about to finish up level 3 and can’t wait to start level 4! I have already flipped through it and it looks great. As always the lessons aren’t too long and it is a nice step up from level 3 without being intimidating or overwhelming. There’s lots of review of topics covered from level 3 but looks like they are taking it a little deeper this year and doing more of their own creative writing as well. I love that we can still use our 101 favorite stories from the Bible book from level 3. This curriculum is so affordable and has been perfect for my daughter who is a struggling reader and writer!
Love it!
Review by Ellen
I've been using this curriculum for my kids since finding it in second grade. This is my kids' favorite subject, thanks to Master Books! I love it, too because it's easy to follow along so that my kids can almost exclusively do their language arts lessons independently and then just bring it to me to check their work.
Love this series
Review by Heather
We continue to love this language arts series! I used Level 4 with my 4th grade son last year. He has been a struggling reader/speller and this series has been great for him although he does need help with the reading and I often substituted something else for spelling. We discovered that he is likely dyslexic and so have taken a break from Language Lessons this year in order to focus more on helping him with reading in the way he learns best. He is doing great and we are looking forward to continuing with Language Lessons next year while implementing some of the techniques we’ve learned this year. Just an encouragement to others that it is ok to take a break, focus on reinforcement for a while and then come back to it!
