Helpful resource for family library
Review by SB
The Legends of Faith series is a great way for families to learn and be inspired by the men and women of the faith who have gone before us. This series contains Early Church Fathers, Famous Preachers and Evangelists, Missionaries for Christ, and Famous Hymnwriters. The books are geared for students in 7th grade and above, but also beneficial for families with younger children to read and discuss together. I think this series is a helpful addition to our family library.
Our Heroes
Review by JoyfulMommy
When we study history, we learn about all sorts of people and events. These men and women of faith are our heroes. Their legacy is enduring and eternal, while the kingdoms of men rise and fall. This beautiful, engaging, and informative book set is a wonderful resource to add to our collection. Short profiles are laid out with a nice amount of text on the pages with beautiful illustrations. Learning about these men and women of faith, and witnessing the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives, fleshes out what Psalm 78:4 describes, telling “the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.” I am grateful for these books, and pray our children will be inspired to imitate the faith of those gone before us!
Perfect gift!
Review by BuidingontheRock
Looking for a quality set of readers for your young friends ages 9 and up? These four books will introduce them - and you! - to a variety of men and women God used to write hymns, spread the gospel throughout the world, and stand up for the truth of God's Word. The biographies are short and are wonderful, age-appropriate introductions to the lives of these godly men and women. I haven't come across another resource like this so far that tells of the lives of these great men and women of the faith in a way that is geared towards and engages younger readers - especially when it comes to the early church fathers and the hymnwriters. May these books plant the seeds in the coming generations to continue to spread the message of God's Word.
Great readers for middle school
Review by Barbara D
I have read each of these books and so has my son. It is a great introduction to many of the different men (and women) over the years that have stood for Christ.
It was good getting to know the story behind some of these men and women. It is an introduction because there's details that are left out, but when 1 chapter per book is per person some details are not included as a result. I do like how with each of the chapters and the stories of their lives it does talk about their hardships but it doesn't go into too much detail to make it uncomfortable for younger ages.
My son's favorite book is the Famous Preachers and Evangelists because he loves the story of John Harper and George Muller. I loved the Famous Hymnwriters as I loved their stories and how they used their situations to praise God with music we are still singing.
The box set is a beautiful way to give these books as a gift. A great way to encourage kids to study more about those who have stood for Christ and have praised him in the storm!
Incredible box set!!
Review by Samantha
Each one of these books on their own is incredibly inspiring and fascinating to read, so having all four together like this is perfect and makes for an excellent gift! From reading through the lives of those who laid the foundation modern praise and worship, to the missionaries who gave it all, to the evangelist and preachers who were ordinary people used to do extraordinary things in Christ, to the early Church Fathers who shared the gospels through the ages this box set is amazing!
