Stories that inspire hearts to serve
Review by Kathleen C
As a homeschool mom, I’m always looking for audio resources that combine solid history with strong biblical truth, and the Missionaries for Christ audiobook has been a wonderful fit for our homeschool days. Marilyn Boyer’s engaging storytelling translates beautifully to audio, bringing missionary heroes to life in a way that captures my children’s attention and imagination. Hearing these true stories of courage, obedience, and sacrificial faith has sparked meaningful conversations in our home about trusting God and living out our calling. This audiobook has been a great addition to our morning basket and car rides, making it easy to incorporate faith-building history into our daily routine.
Inspiring and Encouraging
Review by Michelle C.
The audiobook Missionaries for Christ is a helpful resource for introducing students to the biographies of people who made an impact for the Kingdom of God. With chapters lasting only 15–30 minutes, it works well for listening on the go or as a family at home. Our family enjoys missionary biographies, so I appreciate having a resource that offers shorter stories about people of faith.
Since it is in audio format, some of the introductory information at the beginning of each chapter can blend together and be harder to grasp while listening. For this reason, I recommend using the physical book alongside the audiobook. Overall, depending on the content of each missionary’s story, I would recommend this audiobook for elementary-aged students through adults.
Encouraging Examples of Faithfulness
Review by Charity
This installment in the Heroes of Faith Series is a great introduction to the lives of these men and women who did so much to impact the world for eternity. We love the convenience of the audiobook for listening when we are out and about. The stories have encouraged and given me perspective as a Mom when I have been overwhelmed with the responsibilities in front of me. These people's courageous acts of faith are a great reminder that our God is living and powerful and able to work through us as we follow him in faithful obedience.

I did want to make note that I found a few important details missing in at least one of the accounts ( I wrote more details in the review of the text version of the book). Also, the narrators pronunciation of some of the regional locations and government figures are not consistent. Other than those minor issues, I still enjoyed the audiobook version of this book. Thank you MB for putting out this faith-building series!
Inspiring stories
Review by SB
Missionaries for Christ (Audiobook) tells the stories of ten missionaries, beginning with the story of Adoniram Judson and ending with Brother Andrew. Most of the stories are about 20 minutes long, and the narration is easy to follow and understand. The audiobook version is convenient to listen to, especially on car rides. I also like the physical book though because of the extra features like maps, timelines, etc. I am thankful to have Missionaries for Christ as a resource - it is inspiring to learn about these missionaries.
Excellent addition to the ebook or physical book
Review by MICHELLE
Missionaries for Christ audiobook has been an encouraging and faith-strengthening resource for our homeschool. The narration is engaging and clear, making it easy for children to stay focused while listening. Each story introduces real missionaries and the sacrifices they made to share the gospel, helping history and faith come alive in a very personal way.

We appreciated how the stories highlight courage, obedience, and trust in God without being overwhelming or overly graphic. The audio format worked well for car rides and quiet afternoons and sparked meaningful conversations about missions, service, and faith in action.

This audiobook is a wonderful option for families who want to introduce missionary history in a Christ-centered, age-appropriate way while also nurturing a heart for the Great Commission.
Audio to accompany physical book
Review by Barbara D
I enjoyed reading and learning a good introduction to the missionaries shared in this book. Every chapter is a different missionary, which makes it a great introduction to studying missionaries.
As to the audiobook, it is very understandable, but it does blend paragraphs and thoughts together. For example, each chapter starts with the missionaries name, a verse, and important locations in their life. It is hard to tell when a verse stops or ends and whether the description of the town is the town just named or the town about to be named. Some towns are mispronounced, for example Edinburgh. Since it was an important location in the story of Eric Liddell the name of the town was said multiple times.
My son does like to listen to the audio as he follows along in the book. (He has mentioned the wrong name thing as well.)
Good stories, but the audio is a supplement and I don't see it as a stand alone away from the reading book (digital or physical).
Fascinating
Review by Samantha
It has always fascinated me to learn about the people who spread the Gospel far and wide. This audio book gives such beautiful details about the lives of those who have done it. It’s a great inspiration and encouragement to listen to all the different stories and the variety of lives lived. It is incredible to learn about the people God has chosen and that have headed His call to be missionaries.
Lovely!
Review by Marlé
I throughly enjoyed the book and am really excited to share it with my kids! It will go well with the History of God's Church we will be doing next. It's very reader friendly, giving a brief overview of each Missionary's life and background. I enjoyed the Timeline at the back of the book that brought things together. Lovely addition to your library and Bible study.
