    Principles of Mathematics Book 1 lays a solid foundation – both academically and spiritually – as your student prepares for high school math! Students will study concepts of arithmetic and geometry, further develop their problem-solving skills, see how mathematical concepts are applied in a practical way to everyday life, and strengthen their faith! Written in a conversational style, designed for independent learning with real life examples, historical tidbits, and practical how-to-apply math knowledge.

    This course is designed to be completed in one year with students allocating 30-45 minutes a day for 4 or 5 days a week. Older students are provided an accelerated schedule.

    I enjoyed it a lot. helpful and easy to grasp. all concepts build over time very well. no problems. the only thing, some of the problems are not solved correctly and give the wrong answer. it happened very rarely. great!

    My kid struggles heavily with math. There is alot of reading and I thought it would be a little overwhelming but so far so good. We are going to push through and I love that they put God even in the math lessons

    To begin, I am not great at math and I've worried about how to teach my kid with my limitations. My daughter went through POM1 in 7th grade and is is excelling in math. Even if I don't 100% get it, the book walks us through it and we figure it out together. She's great at math, but this course is definitely bringing her above grade level.

    Our son has excelled using this math book! I was worried that he would be overwhelmed with this curriculum since math has been a challenge for him since elementary school. We began homeschooling when he was in middle school but this year with this math book he has grown leaps and bounds. His understanding has opened up! The pace of the lessons, the way the material is broken down, the concentration of biblical application of math, have all increased his confidence. We were not able to do the second book and will be moving on to Algebra 1, but since using the book and the Master Books Academy Video lessons I know he will be ready!

    I LOVED this book. My 7th and 8th grade girls did this together this year. My 7th grader is good at math and my 8th grader is not (and doesn't want to be). I was a bit concerned but the year went great and they learned so much! The lessons are very comprehensive, there is an option to add Masterbooks Academy but we did not need it. Even my daughter who struggles with math caught on quicker than I anticipated and both girls did really well.

    At first the reading seems overwhelming, but the further you get into it, you see the process. We had some struggles, but in the end, it all worked out.

    …but I took four students through this course at one time. They were ages 10, 11, 12, and 13. Two of them were in 5th grade and two of them were in 7th grade.
    The 5th grade children are both gifted in math. I would not suggest using this before 7th grade unless your student is very strong in math. I would not suggest using it with 5th grade students unless they are blow-your mind-gifted.
    The math starts out with a solid review of elementary school math. I love that because you have a solid start and can determine early on if the child has holes that need tending to. If so, switching to MLFLE 5 or 6 are fantastic options and then you have this curriculum for later. You can probably avoid this trouble by taking the placement test.
    I watched my children grow in confidence with this curriculum and we all loved the integration of Bible. We loved seeing how God created math and our world with a beautiful design. My students were able to complete this curriculum together with minimal help from me. We did not use the Master Books Academy videos for this level, but when my younger children use this curriculum, I plan to use the videos. We did use them for level 2 and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
    My dear friend who was an AP Calculus teacher led me to this program. I never heard of it before her. I am so thankful she did!

    I absolutely love the POM series for my son. It explains it in a way where it is understandable, it is applicable, and it makes it fun to learn. I am learning math the correct way and it makes math fun for ME! If I had this curriculum growing up, this would have made math easier and more accessible for me! Can't give this enough stars!!
