True Courage Rooted in Faith
Review by Kathleen C
As a homeschool mom, I love finding history resources that not only inform but also inspire, and Profiles of Valor 1 from MasterBooks does exactly that. This book introduces students to real people who demonstrated courage, faith, and integrity, helping my children see how biblical principles are lived out in everyday life and challenging circumstances. The short, engaging biographies make it easy to incorporate into our homeschool day, whether for independent reading, family read-aloud, or character study.
What I especially appreciate is how each profile points back to God’s faithfulness and the importance of standing firm in truth. Profiles of Valor 1 encourages meaningful discussions about perseverance, obedience, and trusting the Lord, making it a wonderful resource for building both historical knowledge and Christ-centered character in our homeschool
A great addition to any History Lover's Bookshelf
Review by Crystal
The Profiles of Valor series is a wonderful way to engage with history in manageable, meaningful pieces. I enjoyed reading the short profiles and discovering moments and people from history that I did not previously know about. Each entry is thoughtfully written and easy to digest, making it perfect for both focused reading and casual browsing.

These volumes are a great addition to a growing history collection and pair especially well with other character-driven history series. If you enjoyed For You They Signed or the What a Character Series, you will love Profiles of Valor. They share the same engaging, story-centered approach that makes history feel personal and memorable.

Highly recommended for readers who enjoy discovering lesser-known details, meaningful stories, and inspiring figures from the past, and for anyone looking to add quality history books to their collection.
Supplemental Reader for US History Course
Review by BuildingontheRock
"Learn from the lives of those who have gone before you and, inspired by their sacrifice, persevere with all boldness to leave a legacy of freedom to those who come behind us." - Marilyn Boyer Volume 1 of Profiles of Valor covers time period leading up the American Revolution, 1755-1775. Character traits that enabled men to have convictions for freedom and the courage to fight for it are emphasized in these accounts. Each chapter emphasizes a different trait and ends with a set of comprehension and personal application questions. This reader would be particularly meaningful when complementing any US history curriculum covering this time frame. Geared towards middle school and high school readers whose vocabulary will be challenged.
Helpful American History resource
Review by SB
I really like how the Profiles of Valor series combines character study with American History. The first book covers the time period of July 9, 1755 – June 17, 1775 and focuses on 10 men and 10 different character traits. Some of the men are very well known, such as George Washington, while other names are not as well known. Each chapter begins by naming and defining a character trait and then giving a scripture verse to memorize. The stories are not too lengthy and include black and white pictures. Each chapter ends with questions to answer. This series is recommended for grades 7 and up. What a great resource when studying American History!
Amazing!

I love reading Marilyn Boyer’s books and this one is no exception! She has shown us true stories of how God used these men and the traits that follow them. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it. These stories give the reader a glimpse into some of the amazing lives of how God used these men for HIS history! I will be reading this again!
