Review by BuildingontheRock
Rev. John Witherspoon said: "It is in the man of piety and inward principle, that we may expect to find the uncorrupted patriot, the useful citizen, and the invincible soldier." Profiles of Valor Book 2 includes accounts of several patriots, citizens, and soldiers, some known - like George Washington and some unknown. This reader covers the end of 1775-1777. Learn more about individuals who sacrificed and fought for freedom in the War of Independence. Some of these stories will especially come to life if the reader is able to visit any sites where these events took place for a rich historical experience. Each chapter highlights a character trait and ends with comprehension and application questions. Geared for middle and high schoolers. These accounts will be of particular interest to those studying this time period in US history.
Helpful American History resource
Review by SB
I really like how the Profiles of Valor series combines character study with American History. The second book covers the time period of December 1775 – December 1777 and focuses on 10 different character traits. Some of the chapters are written about the same man, such as George Washington, with each chapter focusing on a different story and character trait. Each chapter begins by naming and defining a character trait and then giving a scripture verse to memorize. The stories are not too lengthy and include black and white pictures. Each chapter ends with questions to answer. This series is recommended for grades 7 and up. What a great resource when studying American History!
Wonderful history addition
Review by MICHELLE
Volume 2 of Profiles of Valor continues to highlight individuals who stood firm in their beliefs despite challenges. The stories emphasize bravery, integrity, and reliance on God, helping children see how faith plays a role in real historical moments.

The writing remains engaging and age-appropriate, making it suitable for both independent reading and family discussions. We found that this volume naturally led to conversations about making wise choices and standing strong in one’s convictions.

This book is a valuable supplement for families who want to weave character development and faith-based lessons into their homeschool routine.
