Great gift
Review by Andrea
Bought this book for my mother who loves William Penn. Looking at it before passing it along and the book itself is so cool. The pages have that worn look but the print is a good size easy to read.
Fruits of Solitude
Review by Rebecca
Its definitely written in a way we no longer speak or write in our culture. Some things are hard to discern the meaning because of this, but it is full of wisdom that withstands the tests of time.
Wisdom from days gone by...
Review by Heather
"If thou hast done an Injury to another, rather own it than defend it. One way thou gainest Forgiveness, the other, thou doubl'st the Wrong and Reckoning." - from Reparation

"Wit is an happy and striking way of expressing a Thought." - from Wit

Generally, this is not the type of book that you would sit down and read from beginning to end. Yet, I found myself wanting to continue to read these thoughts. Often I would read something out loud to either my husband or daughter. Because the writing style used within this book is not the norm for today, I enjoyed watching me daughter try to figure out what exactly was being said with some of the writings. The book is filled with different gems from days gone by.

This hard cover book looks like a classic book with the worn look and torn-edge pages. The introduction, written by Edmund Gosse, gives deeper insight into the life of William Penn, so you won't want to skip over it. The book contains two "books" in one: Fruits of Solitude (part 1) and More Fruits of Solitude (part 2). Each part is broken down into different topics. If you're looking for a little inspiration, you can just look up a specific topic.

If you're looking for some wisdom from days of old, you'll want to pick up this little book.
