Exploring the World of Mathematics

Examine the world of mathematics as your student discovers how the many advancements and branches of mathematics were developed through the centuries as people encountered problems and relied upon math to solve them. In Exploring the World of Mathematics, your student will:

  • Learn what timely invention was tampered with by the Caesars and almost perfected by a pope
  • Discover why ten days vanished in September of 1752
  • Examine the important invention that caused the world to be divided into time zones
  • Explore what common unit of measurement was originally based on the distance from the equator to the North Pole
  • Discover why a computer glitch called a “bug"
  • and much more!

Exploring the World of Physics

Discover how the laws of motion and gravity affect everything from the normal activities of everyday life to launching rockets into space! Through simple instruction, students will discover the world of physics as they:

  • Find out why a feather and a lump of lead will fall at the same rate in a vacuum
  • Learn about the history of physics from Aristotle to Galileo to Isaac Newton to the latest advances
  • Learn about the effects of inertia firsthand during fun and informative experiments
  • and more!

Exploring the World of Biology

In Exploring the World of Biology, students will experience a fascinating look at life - from the smallest proteins and spores, to the complex life systems of humans and animals as they discover:

  • How biological classification gives each different type of plant and animal a unique name
  • The ways in which seeds spread around the world
  • How biologists learned how the stomach digested food
  • The plant that gave George de Mestral the idea for Velcro
  • and more!

Exploring the World of Chemistry

Exploring the World of Chemistry brings science to life as students explore the exciting and fascinating world of chemistry! 9th Grade son LOVED this course!
Review by Melissa
My son chose this science course for 9th grade because he didn't know what he wanted to learn, and figured that this would be a good choice since he would get to try out several while not committing to a huge book on 1 topic.

The Math book - he did not think he would enjoy this one but every single day he was fascinated to learn how time, space, and life in general are all connected in an a way that only God can do. Nothing is random, but instead, everything is made with special purpose.

The physics book - the first couple lessons seemed hard to him at first but he did end up enjoying it and it also helped him to understand muscle cars even better, one of his fave hobbies.

The biology book - His favorite parts of this book were learning about plant life! He isn't a huge fan of biology relating to people and animals, but he also didn't complain. This book helped solidify which areas of biology he would like to dive in deeper and study. :)

The chemistry book - This is his favorite and he finds it difficult to stop reading at the end of the assignment. He just wants to sit and read more. But he's stetching it out, sticking to the suggested study guide. I do see him taking the full chemistry course with Masterbooks later in high school.

I do think this is a great course for anyone unsure what science field to try out. They cover a lot of main concepts in the various sciences but they don't go super in depth.
ONE DRAWBACK
Review by Tracie
The books need to be in color. So much more interesting if they were in color. My kids all say the same thing. Just sort of BLAH. The material is good but we need color. God gave us color in our world to make our world more pleasing to the eye and the same should go for school material. Would make the curriculum much more appealing.
Great Overview

We really like the 4 smaller books, gives my son just enough info about a particular topic without overwhelming him before we get to move on to the next book. He really enjoyed the Mathematics book.
All-in-One Intro to the Sciences
Review by Teish
This is a good overview of the sciences that can be used as a general science course, but also a good intro to more in-depth courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I’m pleased that they included Mathematics in this course as well! If you order the curriculum pack, then you’ll have everything you need, the textbooks, and the teachers guide containing worksheets, quizzes, tests, answer keys, and a suggested schedule. This is a great value for a high school science course!
Very interesting!
Review by Sarah
My son likes the variety and interesting writing. My older sons used a different curriculum for physical science and it was very tedious, so I'm loving this one! It makes science so much more approachable. At the same time, it's not too easy. He did find the one about math a little boring and said he wished there were color photos. But otherwise he's enjoying it.
Good Overview

My Freshman who does not always enjoy science really did well with this course. The 4 smaller books makes it less daunting and he found it interesting. Even the Physics!
