Most geography courses cover the world. This one helps your student see it — through the lens of the faith you're building at home.

From towering mountains and frozen ice sheets to deserts, oceans, and remote islands, World Geography and Cultures shows how geography shapes life across every continent and how creation points back to its Creator. This complete set includes both the student book and teacher guide, giving you everything you need for a full year of engaging, faith-filled geography — open it, follow the schedule, and teach.

What Students Will Learn
High schoolers taking World Geography and Cultures will build map skills and deepen geographic awareness as they:

  • Explore every continent through its landforms, climates, wildlife, and natural processes — all viewed through the lens of biblical history.
  • Discover how geography shapes the way people live, work, trade, and govern themselves across vastly different cultures.
  • Study the world's most significant natural features, including oceans, glaciers, volcanoes, deserts, and mountain ranges.
  • Examine real-world social issues through a biblical lens, considering how Christians are called to respond.
  • See God's fingerprints in creation, from the most populated cities to the most remote corners of the earth.

Throughout the course, students are encouraged to think critically about geography by asking questions, making connections, and praying for people groups — all within the context of a Christian worldview.

Bottom line: With World Geography and Cultures, geography becomes more than facts from an atlas or almanac; it becomes the fascinating story of God's creation and humanity's place within it.

Textbook Features

Through stunning photography, helpful diagrams, data charts, a wide variety of maps, and concise explanations, teens will deepen their understanding of world geography and cultures and be motivated to explore further on their own.

A Valuable Reference
While designed as a full-year homeschool geography curriculum, the student book also serves as an up-to-date world almanac and atlas — a go-to reference whenever you need visual aids or data points connected to a specific region of the world.

Character, Curiosity, and Compassion
This course was designed with more than academic goals in mind. As students encounter diverse cultures, social challenges, and people groups around the world, they are invited to develop compassion, perspective, and a growing awareness of needs beyond their own experience. Themes of stewardship and responsibility run throughout the regional studies, encouraging students to think carefully about how people care for the land and one another. Wonderful focus on the cultures-kept it engaging
Review by Kathleen C
As a homeschool mom of a high school student, I really appreciated how well the MasterBooks World Geography and Cultures set (textbook and Teacher’s Guide) worked for independent learning. My son was able to complete most of the course on his own, which made a big difference in our day-to-day routine.

From his perspective, the lessons were clear, manageable, and easy to follow without much input from me. He liked that they were not overly long but still covered meaningful content, especially the focus on cultures and how people live around the world—not just maps and locations. It gave him a broader understanding of the subject.

From my side, the Teacher’s Guide kept everything organized and simple. I always knew what he should be doing, and it made it easy to check his work and stay involved without having to teach every lesson myself.

Overall, this set was a great fit for our homeschool—structured, easy to use, and ideal for a high schooler who can work independently while still learning solid material.
Beautiful, Biblical Geography and Cultures.
Review by Michelle C.
Overall, this set is a beautiful world geography course that provides a rich learning experience with a focus on seeing the people and places through God's eyes.

Student Textbook:
If you're looking for a high school geography course filled with dry data and facts, this course isn't it. This book teaches so much more than just geography! It covers continents and countries with detailed maps and beautiful photographs, while also exploring how culture, economy, and religion relate to each region. Additionally, it includes simple timelines that show how historical events have impacted both people and landscapes. The course is written as if the authors are sitting down with you, guiding you through the material while expressing a biblical view of God’s creation and people throughout. The content is also presented in a way that requires no prior knowledge of world geography, providing flexibility for students in when they can take the course.
Unfortunately, the book lacks clear chapter or lesson numbers at the start of each section, which can make navigation a bit challenging. However, the pages are clearly titled with various topics or countries, which helps the reader understand what each page covers.
With a variety of information and captivating pictures throughout, this course is engaging for both high school students and possibly even advanced middle schoolers. It offers a fresh and insightful approach to learning geography, leaving a lasting impact and helping students see the world through God's eyes.

Teacher Guide:
This well-organized Teacher Guide is a colorful and efficient companion to the World Geography and Cultures Student Book. The lessons are easy to navigate with clear labels for each lesson and a suggested 180-day schedule at the back of the book. There is mapwork throughout, and the removable maps in the back can be completed and kept for future reference.
For traditional style homeschools with independent learners, this workbook will get the job done. Students who enjoy variety may find the worksheets repetitive and less engaging as multiple choice and matching questions appear almost daily. I would have liked more ways to practice knowledge through fill-in-the-blanks, short answer questions, or listing major features of a country or continent.
Fortunately, for Charlotte Mason-style homeschools, there is more to this Teacher Guide than just multiple choice and matching and this is where it shines! Throughout the course, students work through critical-thinking questions as well as occasional prompts to choose a Scripture and write a prayer connected to a people group or country. Each lesson also includes extension activities that let students explore cultures and geography more deeply while enriching their faith. Sample activities include: “Mapping the nations we are praying for,” “Missionaries and Christian work in the region,” “Protecting nature while earning a living,” and “Comparing the world’s tallest mountains.” These activities really bring the course to life, giving students a richer experience as they explore the world through God’s eyes.
All things considered, this course’s flexibility and nearly endless options provide a meaningful learning experience that will leave a lasting impact on how students relate to geography, cultures, and God’s creation across the globe.
Much Needed
Review by LaceeC
This World Geography and Cultures set was much needed! I had such a hard time finding a great curriculum for my oldest, then BAM… Master Books came out with this amazing set! I was thrilled to dig into it and absolutely love it. It keeps with Master Books goal of keeping God at the center of everything they do and produce. I cannot wait for my younger 3 to get to this course in their own homeschool journeys. The pictures are amazing throughout. The information even more so. I love the blend of maps and how geography can affect everything from culture to the economy and HOW that works for each area studied. The layout is easy to follow along with and teacher guide question worksheets are a fantastic way to reinforce what students are learning, but no matter how you choose to do geography, the main book is well worth having on your shelf.
World Geography and Cultures Set
Review by Santina
World Geography and Cultures is a rich curriculum that begins with basic geography. I am impressed with the variety of maps included throughout the entire book. It discusses a lot of new vocabulary in relation to geography and the economy, cultures, government systems, religion, and timelines. There are also Earth science concepts such as ocean currents, tectonic plates, and airplane flight paths. The timeline events and prayer points woven throughout the book are great for connecting the geography and culture of each continent’s history and fostering conversation and love for God’s people. This is a wonderful book to have on your shelf as a resource for years to come. World Geography and Cultures Teacher Guide is a perfect companion to the textbook. It has an easy-to-follow schedule and engages the student in critical thinking, mapping skills, writing, reviews, and many opportunities for digging deeper if desired. I love that the pages are varied and engaging but also have a consistent flow so that the student knows what to expect each day.
Flexible Geography Course
Review by Becky V.
I am so excited for the release of World Geography & Cultures! Looking ahead to my oldest entering 9th grade soon, I decided to nab this early in order to get a good look at it before she would start it!

The Teacher Guide is well done and is necessary to complete this course. It includes the usual worksheets, a daily suggested schedule, optional extension projects, and a full answer key. Each lesson incorporates a daily assigned reading, map work, written short answers, and teacher’s discretion assignments. Looking through the course guide, I find that the teacher’s discretion options are where this curriculum really shines! They are provided daily and they offer ways to deepen understanding. Rather than feeling pressured to complete them all, I would definitely recommend choosing a couple each week, based on your student’s ability, to enrich the learning experience. Instead of quizzes or tests, weekly review days are included. These days are designed to reinforce learning or to give an opportunity to assess comprehension.

The Student Text is written directly to the student in a clear, engaging voice. Rather than emphasizing memorization of capitals, mountain ranges, or isolated facts, the text consistently points students toward understanding how geography, culture, history, economy, and belief systems all fit together. The pages are organized and filled with full color pictures and helpful charts. Key words are highlighted throughout, making them easy to locate and reference during assignments.

I love the inclusion of prayer points on days when students read about the religions of various countries. I believe this is an excellent course choice for families looking for a meaningful, thorough, and flexible geography credit from a biblical worldview
Definitely hitting my list of favourites!
Review by Michelle
Anyone who knows me well knows just as well what a pet peeve poor geography curriculum resources are! This one hits all the marks and I am thrilled. Not only is this curriculum colorful and easy to use but it is bible based and feeds their souls right along their minds. I love when curriculum uses the bible as a credible source and this one does it so naturally and practically. The text doesn't feel dry at all it actually is written in a very engaging style pulling the student in and having them want to continue reading. It is such a lovely book that I believe it might end up living in my coffee table stash!

The workbook does a good job of testing information retention and I believe this course in its entirety sets students up for success. This will definitely be one we use for all of our children.
A Much Needed Course
Review by Laurie
This course could not come soon enough. In my state, HS geography is required. So I’m thrilled MasterBooks has put together a quality, thorough, and biblically based course aimed at the High School level. This course includes teachings from each continent and covers: cultures, specific timelines, maps, and tons of pictures. The reading per day is reasonable, leaving time for additional research, video clips, building models, or writing papers, engaging students to understand at a deeper level.
A fresh look at geography!
Review by Dustie
As soon as she saw this, my soon-to-be 9th grader immediately asked to add this to her courses for the coming school year. She started looking through it and said that it looks very interesting and like something that will keep her attention and deepen her knowledge of geography and cultures across the globe.
It really is a beautiful book. I’ve struggled with geography books in the past because so many of them are simply lists of numbers and dates, and frankly, most of them are boring. This book is so much more than that, and it is anything but boring. While it does include the necessary things like map-reading skills, it also includes information about weather, people, cultures, topography, animal life, economics, governments, and (to quote the author), “how the world fits together.”
The beginning sets a solid foundation for understanding geography from a biblical worldview and understanding how the catastrophic event of the flood of Noah’s day dramatically changed the face of the planet. In this same section (one that may need to be referred to more than once), the basics of map reading and the differences in types of maps are covered. An overview of types of governments and other definitions are also included. It gives a detailed, but not overwhelming overview of these topics.
I feel like this book takes the reader on a journey to discover the beauty of the world God created, and it helps us to understand that there are some serious consequences to our sin. It is colorful and engaging with stunning photos and helpful illustrations. I really appreciate the spreadsheet type charts that organize the facts in a simple manner. The facts are presented in a way that makes sense and ties the information together. The authors help show the connections between the locations, natural resources, and economies and exports, as well as governments and cultures. The topic of various religions is covered in a respectful manner without deviating from biblical truths. The Thank-Pray-Ask-Pray sections are a beautiful reminder to give glory to God for His beautiful creation and to pray for our fellow humans, created in His image across the globe.
The worksheets are not just busy work. They are helpful in reinforcing the material without being overwhelming. There are also optional activities, including art projects or watching a video. I think this is helpful to reach a variety of learning styles. Every 5th day is a review of the week. In the front of the teacher guide is a schedule, and in the back there is an answer key and a variety of maps. It is a well-organized and well-written course.
I am so excited to share this course with my daughter. I’m looking forward to the wonderful things we are going to learn together and the amazing discussions that we will have as we learn. I think this is an excellent course for high school students (and parents, too), especially those who feel called to missions.
So well-organized
Review by Charity
I love studying geography with my children so I got this course for me to personally dig deeper as I teach my ten and under set. I love how well organized the information is in the student textbook as well as the beautiful layout and photos that really bring the regions to life.

The teacher's guide is also well written and very straightforward. At the beginning of each worksheet there is usually just a standard worksheet format to reinforce the important facts from the lesson. My favorite part is at the bottom of the page where the students are given a list of many research assignments to choose from to really take these concepts deeper and make them more personal and applicable to the student's interest. There are also maps for the students to fill out for each region. There is an answer key in the back for the teacher which includes pictures of the completed maps for grading purposes as well.

I love how this course weaves together a biblical worldview and a love for the people God has created but does not shy away from the effects of sin on these people groups. The prayer guides at the end of each of the chapters in the textbook have been a sobering reminder of my place in the world and the sacrifices Christians around the world make for Jesus every day even in hostile environments.

This is a wonderful course for any high school student. Highly recommend!
A wonderful course!
