    The World History course is an excellent history course for your upper high-school student (10th-12th grade). It is a one-year course (36 weeks) that will earn your student 1 credit. Time investment is about 30-45 minutes per day, five days a week.

    This course covers world history with a Christian worldview starting at Creation and following through into the early 21st century. The student text is split into 36 chapters, and each chapter is split into the daily corresponding lesson. The text is just beautifully put together, easy to read, written for easy understanding, and the pictures and graphics are bright and vivid. Each chapter gives an overview, objectives, and key people and places.

    History can be a hard subject to study, but the author has written this text with an approach of “an unfolding of God’s plan for the world,” and it really is just an excellent and fascinating course to go through!

    I cannot say enough! This is the textbook of the World History course, so be sure to buy the teacher's guide. First assignment right off the bat goes over how your student will be reading through Genesis and its commentary during the course to lay a biblical foundation for your child. Day 5’s assignment is to read scripture and commentary and take notes. Another important skill I think this course develops within your child as they progress.The course text book is great, full of color, chapter overviews and what information your child should have been able to glean from each chapter for discussions. Honestly, I can grab any “history book” and teach my child the facts of the world, but to teach them to see things from the lens of our Creator and the gospel- that makes this course SUCH a winner. Your child will not only be learning word history, but they will gain a deeper understanding of Genesis, the beginning of time and most importantly, our Creator.

    From the beginning of time to early 21st century, students will travel through 36 chapters learning about the history of our world from a Christian Worldview. I love how easy this book is to navigate. Each chapter is broken up into 5 lessons. Each chapter starts with an overview of the chapter, key points readers should know after reading the chapter, and key people, places and principles. Each chapter is well thought-out and easy to read, and includes vibrant pictures and a map. The back of the book includes a glossary, forms of government and their definitions, and a comparative worldviews chart.
    History from a Biblical Worldview

    History has always been a subject that I enjoyed, but I can honestly say that many history textbooks books I’ve seen are really dull. This is a pleasant exception. It seems like a natural progression from Angela O’Dell’s World’s Story (which is also a very enjoyable read). It is thorough without being overwhelming or boring. It is written in an engaging style, and it is broken apart in very digestible portions for daily assignments. The assignments and exams seem to follow the text. One of the features I appreciate is the box at the beginning of each chapter that contains the topics that the student should be able to discuss after reading. This is really helpful in promoting independence for the high school student. The addition of So Noted is a really neat way to set a proper foundation for studying world history. What a great course to help solidify the student’s comprehension of the history of our world, as well as their worldview.
    As a side note, there is an academy course that supplements this course with videos for 4 out of 5 days each week.
    Bringing History to Life

    I will be the first to admit, I never enjoyed history in school growing up. I found it so dry and boring. Honestly, I thought this would be my least favorite subject to teach my children. Masterbooks history has repeatedly changed my mind in that department with their history curriculum. I found this to be the case with their elementary curriculum, but I was curious to know how it would be in high school. My daughter is in 10th grade, and we thought this curriculum would be a good fit for her to get her high school world history credit. I was very surprised to see how they brought forth high school level teaching, while still making history come alive. The Bible is such an important part of history, and we only felt it appropriate to teach history from a young earth perspective, which this curriculum does. Each section is taught from a Biblical perspective. The curriculum starts in the beginning with creation and goes through modern times (even covering Sept. 11). Colorful pictures capture the student (and parent reading too). There are daily questions in the teacher's guide to go along with each lesson. I highly recommend this curriculum for parents looking for a Biblically solid high school history curriculum.
