World History (Revised Edition - Download)

The World History course is an excellent history course for your upper high-school student (10th-12th grade). It is a one-year course (36 weeks) that will earn your student 1 credit. Time investment is about 30-45 minutes per day, five days a week.

This course covers world history with a Christian worldview starting at Creation and following through into the early 21st century. The student text is split into 36 chapters, and each chapter is split into the daily corresponding lesson. The text is just beautifully put together, easy to read, written for easy understanding, and the pictures and graphics are bright and vivid. Each chapter gives an overview, objectives, and key people and places.

History can be a hard subject to study, but the author has written this text with an approach of “an unfolding of God’s plan for the world,” and it really is just an excellent and fascinating course to go through!

History has always been a subject that I enjoyed, but I can honestly say that many history textbooks books I’ve seen are really dull. This is a pleasant exception. It seems like a natural progression from Angela O’Dell’s World’s Story (which is also a very enjoyable read). It is thorough without being overwhelming or boring. It is written in an engaging style, and it is broken apart in very digestible portions for daily assignments. The assignments and exams seem to follow the text. One of the features I appreciate is the box at the beginning of each chapter that contains the topics that the student should be able to discuss after reading. This is really helpful in promoting independence for the high school student. The addition of So Noted is a really neat way to set a proper foundation for studying world history. What a great course to help solidify the student’s comprehension of the history of our world, as well as their worldview.
As a side note, there is an academy course that supplements this course with videos for 4 out of 5 days each week.

I will be the first to admit, I never enjoyed history in school growing up. I found it so dry and boring. Honestly, I thought this would be my least favorite subject to teach my children. Masterbooks history has repeatedly changed my mind in that department with their history curriculum. I found this to be the case with their elementary curriculum, but I was curious to know how it would be in high school. My daughter is in 10th grade, and we thought this curriculum would be a good fit for her to get her high school world history credit. I was very surprised to see how they brought forth high school level teaching, while still making history come alive. The Bible is such an important part of history, and we only felt it appropriate to teach history from a young earth perspective, which this curriculum does. Each section is taught from a Biblical perspective. The curriculum starts in the beginning with creation and goes through modern times (even covering Sept. 11). Colorful pictures capture the student (and parent reading too). There are daily questions in the teacher's guide to go along with each lesson. I highly recommend this curriculum for parents looking for a Biblically solid high school history curriculum.

Where was this book when I was in high school? History wasn't my favorite subject growing up, but I've developed a true fondness to it as I got older and was able to do my own reading and studying up on it. This text would have been a treasure to have when I was a teen, because it doesn't get any more engaging than this. I love that the basis of this course uses a Christian worldview, so while it teaches historical content around the globe, it does so while also incorporating Biblical history. Not only will high schoolers be taken on a journey to learn all about the birth of many civilizations across the globe, but they will also dive into major periods in time such as the Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Renaissance, and the Enlightenment. Major battles/wars, cultures, and other events that helped change and mold the course of history are all covered in this text. You are really getting the whole package with this course and what's more, the content is really engaging, making a subject that some may typically find boring, actually fun and exciting.

Extra features in the book include a World History Glossary, descriptions of the various Forms of Government, a chart that shares comparative worldviews when it comes to religion and other cultures, as well as descriptions of the eight major worldviews (Naturalism, Theism, Realism, etc.). In addition to the engaging content throughout each lesson, the book contains pages upon pages of beautiful photography and interesting stories to read. The lessons are very comprehensive, so teens are going to receive a well-rounded education in world history upon completion of this course.

We used this book last year for world history of two world war II, and I was quite impressed with how engaged my daughter stayed with it. As she said "it's not a boring textbook". The updates are well done as they bring in new information and updated views on what may have happened, to produce a much more thorough book that still retains everything you loved about the prior edition that was aimed at modern students who need graphics, interesting information and larger font and traditional textbooks to keep their interest. We used this as a read along with our other history. It is good to use as a supplement or a stand alone curriculum. My son found it interesting.

Covering all of world history in one year is challenging, but this book does a great job of hitting the high (and low) points in history and encourages the student to see how it all weaves together. Colorful images, a timeline, and what the student should understand by the end of the chapter help both student and teacher make sure pertinent information is being grasped. Written with a biblical perspective, this is the type of history I want in my homeschool!

This curriculum asks great questions and gets the student thinking about truth and what is important. Would recommend. I love that is discusses world view.

The lessons are short and engaging, the pictures are beautiful. I love that the author talks about worldviews of each country and even mentions worldviews of many historical and political figures which helps to understand their intentions better. Wonderful history book.

I love that the lessons aren't too long and boring. They are written so that a student can read it themselves and understand it. It is written with a biblical view ans I love the color pictures.
